unpopular opinion but I really don't care for the early shit and Daniel Craig sucks.

The Living Daylights

GoldenEye is the GOAT Bond film. Perfectly balance dance of seriousness and camp. Brosnan is charming as hell and excels with the campy stuff incredibly well but he also has his moments where he plays Bond as incredibly brutal and cold. So good.

GoldenEye with Dalton would have been a fucking masterpiece. It’s so depressing we were denied this.

Die another day is really comfy.

OHMSS

>t. Goldeneye was my first Bond and I played the N64 game

From Russia with Love.

This has got to be the Bondest of Bond films.

Top 3:
1) Licence to Kill
2) Octopussy
3) On Her Majesty's Secret Service

what did they mean by this?

Casino Royale.
Change my mind.

Its shit. You convinced?

Changing bacarrat to texas hold em is enough to sink it on it's own.

From Russia with Love. Coldwar espionage kino.

That triggers my autism so fucking much. It's Baccarat in the novel, not to mention after 20 movies we never see him play poker until now... right when an online poker fad is hitting its peak. Huh.

It’s a perfect Bond film.

Also you have fucking Mathias giving running commentary to the dumb fucks that can't understand how the game is played

Which is worse, Bond playing Texas Holdem or Bond drinking a Heineken?

>nooo you have to use an archaic game that no one in the west actually plays anymore because my mall fedora brain thinks it’s le classy

Same here, Goldenkino for me too

And Casino Royale with Brosnan

Nah, we all have seen

*other movies first because of the game

Oups, missed a few words there

Plenty of rich people still play Baccarat, in fact in that setting for those stakes the game would be especially appropriate. Even ignoring that Bond always plays baccarat and you think CR is excused just because people are retards, the game itself is retarded and everyone gets a super rare hand in the climax like in some shitty Japanese cartoon.

Yeah, that’s probably my biggest flaw with the movie.
It was probably for the amerimutt audience. They have no idea or never heard of bacarrat so you have to dumb it down somehow. Texas hold ‘em was perfect for the mutt audience.

>CR destroyed my suspension of disbelief, getting a royal flush is super unrealist-

kys idiot

>blaxploitation tone
>Baron Samedi
>inflation porn (buck breaking edition)
Live and Let Die is the best Bond Film and you can't prove otherwise.

Wow, I thought I was Yea Forums - Television and Film but I see I stumbled into Yea Forums - Literature. Sorry guys. I'll see my way out.

I'm not even a fan of the books, it's just a arbitrary change from the films as well. Cubby Broccoli was serious about only ever showing Bond play Baccarat. It's just one of those nice little recurring details

That argument makes no sense as Casino Royale tried to be this “super duper realistic” bond (because Jason Bourne did so well and was so successful) while having goofy shit like the “everyone-goes-all-in-and-shows-all-their-cards-from-lowest-to-highest-somehow” in it also.

Gold finger, Goldeneye, and Skyfall.

Hilariously, multiple scenes are taken from the Halle Berry Die Another Day spinoff script

This is the correct opinion

The Afghanistan shit is really boring and the film has neither a central villain nor a coherent plot

I hate Goldeneye. It's fucking dull. I saw it opening weekend in the theaters, and I just watched the blu ray last month after working my way through the box set. I've never liked it, and the years didn't change my opinion. It's just ...dull. Like it wants to be a Tom Clancy film or something. Brosnan wasn't very good in it either. I got too bored to go on to the next film in the set (I will eventually though, I did pay for it).
And I fucking LOVED the N64 game. I played it while I was working back in the day so I was getting paid while I played, can't beat that. Great game, shit film.

Maybe? My rewatch of the Dalton films I had a much higher opinion of them after my recent viewing. Had hoped it would improve my opinion of Goldeneye, but it just sucks.

>Change my mind.
Why? This isn't plebbit, you're allowed your opinion of what YOUR favorite can be. Retard.

I can appreciate Goldfinger and why it's the general favorite, but it's not mine.

Maybe Man With The Golden Gun? Christopher Lee, awesome car stunts, and Moore is my Bond. Not Best Bond, but MY Bond, the one most active during my formative years. Every Starlog or film magazine I'd get for Star Wars/Trek/etc always featured Moore, and I saw his films the most during summers as a kid watching HBO's constant airings (when they weren't playing Beastmaster, of course)

I actually really like the setup for Tomorrow Never Dies, Elliot Carver is a great concept for an antagonist - I just wish the execution had been a bit less shit.

Untitled john boyega bond film (2024)

>Why? This isn't plebbit, you're allowed your opinion of what YOUR favorite can be. Retard.
It's a meme, dummy. It's an opening to discussion. I just wanna talk about James Bond.
Though I still feel like my favorite Bond film was Casino Royale.

Attached: file.png (474x491, 374.34K)

Everything's a fucking meme. Talk like a tard, get treated like a tard. NGMI

It's the hallmark of the Brosnan Bond movies - great concepts for stories and villains that are poorly executed. Look at World is Not Enough's 'Renard' - bad guy gets shot by an agent and survives, but the bullet is slowly killing off his ability to feel pain, emotion, etc. That's a fucking awesome concept for an anatagonist and you could build an entire story around that, but they've got like one sixty second scene where he fucks around with some mystical rocks or whatever and then he takes a back seat for almost the entire rest of the movie and they make the shitty bad girl the real mastermind.

Tomorrow never dies is GOAT tier choice

Arguably the best Bond villain

So you wanna talk about Bond films or just throw around ad hominem insults?

Attached: 1544564615522.jpg (662x513, 108.63K)

I can't seem to make up my mind about CR, it seems to go in waves. I really loved in when it came out, then for a while I felt it was just kind of meh, and now I've come back around to really liking it again.

Taking the entire Craig era as a whole, I think CR is ultimately the one with the most even pacing, best plot, and best overall execution. Quantum is a boring slog, Skyfall is mostly good but it's got some slow clunky bits too it, Spectre is just okay, and No Time is a clusterfuck.

I don't care about next James Bond, he kills for country, queen and god

What do you want talk about, comrade? Casino Royale is good, da?

Best Bond: easily George Lazenby
Best Bond movie: Goldeneye
George isn't the best actor but he was the best fit to play the role. You are allowed to seethe now

Yeah, Craig's entire time as Bond was overall terrible. But I just liked Casino Royale. I thought it was a great film, had Mads in it as the villain, even Craig performed. The story was good and I dunno, I just liked it.
>Casino Royale is good, da?
Da.

Attached: file.png (1024x759, 1.13M)

None of them are particularly good. Goldeneye is the only one I would watch again but I'd stop enjoying it about halfway through.

>Yep. This one.

An exceptional Cold War thriller.

FYI for anons. Supposedly tomorrow is the day all eon bond films are gonna be on amazon prime (Dr. No through No Time to Die)

This is when Roger became Bond imo.

Goldeneye's popularity is surviving almost completely due to nostalgia at this point. Rewatching it it's almost painfully schlocky and has such a weird ass disjointed plot and there's a bunch of plot and character arcs that just get completely dropped by the wayside as the movie goes along. A couple of scenes like the plane dive and the tank chase are still a lot of fun, but that's kind of all the movie has going for it.

Casino Royale was the most disappointing Craig bond for me because it has a good setup. I like seeing young bond go Berserk in the crane chase and then again when he's going after the bomber in Miami. He hasn't developed his suaveness but he gets the job done. And the bad guy seems dangerous and successful.

Then second half it falls apart with bond literally crying and having to be rescued. Meanwhile the badguy himself wusses out in front of people who are gonna kill his gf and only thing making him dangerous then is that he's desperate. He no longer appears smart or cunning like he did earlier in the movie
Its sad it could've been so much better, and then they never return to the height of that first half with Craig. Rest of his movies are ok to bad and it's a shame.

>Rewatching it it's almost painfully schlocky
Yeah, it's a Bond movie. Not a drama piece
>there's a bunch of plot and character arcs that just get completely dropped by the wayside as the movie goes along
Huh?

TWINE is better than Goldeneye and i'm tired of pretending it's not.

TWiNE is incredibly underrated and it deserves more love.
Theme is top 5 and Brosnan gives his best performance imo

I think James Bond sucks

Wanna know how I know you're gay

plenty of bacarrat tables in my local casino even for small bets

This is Moores best film

I agree, completely underrated. Wonder why? Kino setting (Paris, London, submarine, Spain), cinematography is good, Bond girls are some of the most attractive in the series etc.
