not that i know, but maybe don't watch high school romance anime, it's the most cliched, overplayed genre.

I used to hate anime, still do, but there's still some kinos on par with the best western animations have to offer, despite the vast ocean of garbage that is most anime. I only tried anime out recently, and found these two, as well as some Ghibli films, which I definitely enjoyed.

I have two suggestions that are both very good movies, but come with the caveat that you need to watch an entire show before them. The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiyah and Madoka Magica: Rebellion are both really fucking good watches, but they are capstones to the shows that precede them and neither one of them would make an ounce of sense without the context of those shows first. They are goods BECAUSE they are able to build on top of what you already know.
