The only metric for judging Simpsons episodes is quotability. If you can't remember a quote from an episode, it's shit.
this.
I want to say top 25 includes the one with the guy who thinks hes michael jackson, but there's really nothing memorable or funny about it.
I claim 7 places for all of the Treehouse of Horror episodes from seasons 2-8.

22 short films about springfield is the show at their very best. Whole episode is hilarious and it was about the whole city, paying homage to the side characters that enriched so much the simpsons. One of the scenes that appear randomly in my head the most is proffessor frink trying to sing that shitty song in the last couple seconds and the credits rolling. (Also skinner steamed hams ofc)
Lemon of Troy
They took their time before finally introducing a character who could see right through Homer's bullshit, and it was hilarious.
>the little pulp fiction parody
10/10
How about the X files episode?
As Homer goes under on the surgery table:
>What the hell is that?
Bart Sells His Soul

Hello, I'm Leonard Nimoy
The following tale of alien encounters is true. And by true, I mean false. It's all lies, but they're entertaining lies. And in the end isn't that the real truth?
The answer is no
>You mean there really is a Bart?! Good Lord!
Where nothing can possi blie go wrong
Well sir there's nothing on earth like a genuine, bona fide, electrified six-car monorail.

saw this in 3D at the cinema when I was a kid
it was some kind of demonstration of new 3D technology with other segments but that was the only memorably part
And Maggie Makes Three. The ending is iconic, but the whole episode is full of great moments
>Homers being completely oblivious about Marge being pregnant with everyone congratulating him
>The explanation of how Homer lost his hair
>The montage of Homer trying to figure out how marketing works before resorting to firing a shotgun in the air screaming BOWLING
>”Mom, make dad tell the story right!”
>”That’s what really happened”

Boy Scouts n da hood
The Beer Baron one about prohibition. That episode was great.
I miss Phil Hartman

This segment unironically creeped me out when I was twelve. Specifically the music when he was looking at the fish.
It was kinda eerie.
His wife didn't
Ugh eww ooh Gross... I'll take a crab juice

Feels like a genuine adventure episode, perfect mix of suspense, emotion and comedy without missing a beat.
