Lovitz ran a struggling comedy club, Smith moved himself and his podcast crew into there as a home base for live podcasts and revitalized it and raised it's profile, after some time Lovitz stopped paying Smith then claimed it was the fault of some manager who had ruined the clubs finances

Except a lawsuit eventually showed it wasn't, Lovitz was just a shitty businessman and a fraud, the place went bankrupt and shut after Smith left.
