make a choice for me between watching hannibal for the first time or rewatching dexter? i dropped dexter around the time when ghost father appeared
Make a choice for me between watching hannibal for the first time or rewatching dexter...
hannibal is distractedly homoerotic and I'm not even kidding, it took me out of the show
Hannibal is a good 8/10 until season 3, and even then it only drops to a 6
Mads is great
Hannibal is fucked up watch it
>rewatching Dexter
Are you a masochist? I watched the first two seasons of Hannibal and it was okay but cheesy at times. The first guy mentioning the gayness is correct and the director is gay.
well i watched all of spartacus so i guess ill be immune
did you watch dexter? what did you think of it and how do they compare?
never watched Dexter, it's always been one of those "i'll get around to it" shows for me
would you recommend it?
Hannibal is literally superior to Dexter in every way.
Dexter isn't an actual psychopath but a an autist programmed into thinking he's a psychopath. He's a spergy autist.
different guy but
>season 1 is alright
>season 2 has a hot british chick
>season 4 is overrated but has based john lithgow acting circles around everyone else
>rest of the show is a dumpster fire
I used watch both these shows around the same time and I loved both. Dexter dragged on way too long while Hannibal never outstayed itself always felt high quality
Hannibal is worth it only for the food kino.
>would you recommend it?
i would strongy recommend you check it out. it's not a show you want to never get around to watch imho
like i said, i did drop it around s4 bc quality dropped and it became repetetive, but that doesnt take away from earlier seasons
hannibal is pure unadulterated kino
Watch Hannibal.
Watch Hannibal.
ITS DOESNT FUCK YOU IN THE ASS LIKE CLYDE, FUCK YOU CLYDE.
Hannibal is pretty good.
>Season 1 is a decent "murderer of the week" cop show feat. Hannibal
>Season 2 is pure psychological thriller kino
>Season 3 is one of the most pretentious, masturbatory slogs ever put on television
>Season 3.5 is almost as good as season 2
Just ignore the homoeroticism.
this
also really appreciated that the mushroom murderer guy was named Dr. Stamets after Paul Stamets who is a prominent mycologist
>Just ignore the homoeroticism.
That’s what made it uneasy to watch, the completely forced homo love for each other was so out of place you could tell it was forced and you could feel it
Dexter wishes it could be as good as Hannibal.
I only watched the first few seasons of Dexter but Hannibal's first 2 seasons were easily better than those.
I was okay with Hannibal being a fag because he's already an insane mass murderer but it felt weird when Will Graham would reciprocate it.
watch the films Manhunter and Silence of the Lambs instead, the tv series Hannibal is gay shit
Hannibal obviously.
This is how platonic brotherhood is for each other you wouldn't undertstand
implying that's a bad thing
They literally aren't gay you fucking retard. Hannibal doesn't do anything explicitly gay
Let's be real, just watch the show for Mads. You can't read that guy, and the homo shit still comes off though he's just manipulating Will. Watch the show as if Hannibal is just totally delighting in utterly destroying this guy's mind.
>platonic brotherhood
It wasn't a Frodo and Sam relationship that people often misunderstand. There was absolutely homolust going down.
>watch dexter s1-s4
>watch both seasons of hannibal because the third one is a fucking mess and destroyed the s2 perfect ending
I rewatched it lately and all that stuck out was Hanniball smelling Will because he is a serial predator and Will being infatuated with Hannibal because he is completely lonely with his ability to understand and empathise with serial killers which totally isolated himself professionally and socially
thanks for replyes bros. i didnt expect it to be so one sided at all, ill watch hannibal definitely
Hannibal
>sniffs Will
>is relieved when he learns that Will isn't dead
>touches Will's hand and gently cleans and bandages his injured knuckles
>finds discourtesy ugly but permits Will's rudeness and allows him to sit at his desk
>looks at Will with pride and adoration
>draws erotic art of he and Will
>wants to run away with Will
>stares at Will during the ortolan eating scene which was shot very sensually with close-ups of mouths, closed eyelids and working throats
>touches Will's face and is openly fascinated by him
>fashions the dismembered torso of one of his victims into a sword-skewered heart just for Will
>saves Will from having his face cut off and carries him through the snow before tucking him into bed
>hands himself in to the FBI after believing that he was rejected because that way Will will always know where he is. he would rather be imprisoned than think Will wouldn't look for him. the thought of possibly seeing Will again matters more to Hannibal than his freedom
>requests that Will personally ask for his help and say "please" and looks incredibly pleased with himself when he does
Will
>wants to run away with Hannibal
>other characters frequently talk about their complicated relationship with Freddie Lounds even calling them "Murder husbands"
>straight up asks Bedelia if Hannibal is in love with him and is told that Hannibal hungers for him and finds nourishment at the sight of him before asking Will if he aches for Hannibal
>tells Hannibal that before him and after him is the difference between the past and future
Yeah, they're totally just friends.
I haven't seen the show since it aired but it seemed like there was homoerotic symbolism occurring during the montage segments when the spooky music played. Only on Hannibal's part, not necessarily Will's.
damn, that was a pretty good rundown
I'm sure there's much more too
Tumblr. Go back. These are just the interests of an elite predator who happens to be a renaissance man
the director is a literal faggot
I think that faggot agreed they weren't gay
He confirmed that Hannibal is pansexual. Will is straight but Hannibal would be his exception; their connection transcends labels. They almost kissed at the end of the third Season also and the showrunner regrets not going forward with it.
>He confirmed that Hannibal is pansexual
Well that would keep a specific audience happy
If he gets a fourth season going I wouldn't be surprised if he went full kilter with homosexual fan service
>Hannibal thinks he's better than everyone
>says eating people isn't cannibalism because they aren't his equals
>still pansexual which sort of implies he's willing to have sex with his food or subhumans in the same rank as animals
kind of gross. I didn't watch the third season but I'm going to hope he considered Will an equal at some point.
Hannibal but only if you stop when Hannibal gets arrested since the last six-seven episodes are a really god-awful rape of the Red Dragon novel.
I hate that the rights for Clarice was owned by someone else. It felt weird watching all of this without her.
filtered. Season 3 is the best because they finally embraced the dreamworld aesthetic instead of trying to keep one foot in reality, which never worked anyway.
IIRC that was the plan. They couldn't adapt SOTL due to issues with the rights to Clarice and Buffalo Bill so S4 was going to be Murder Husbands the Series with them on the run.
Mizumono is one of the best episodes of any series. Go and watch Hannibal user.
t. Friendless
I liked season 1 of but not the rest of the show. Never seen Hannibal.
Be thankful. Fuller has stated he had two scenarios in mind had he been allowed to use Clarice:
1. Hire Ellen Page, who had begun her descent into lebsian/tranny hell to play Clarice
2. Race flip Clarice black and 100% change her entire character to be 100% about being a black woman in the deep south as far as going HARD on the "white people are racist" direction for her.
He would never kill Will, even after the worst betrayals. Will is the only person that understands him after all. Hannibal definitely considers him an equal and Will even says himself that they're conjoined and wonders if they'd survive separation because they're so intermingled with each other.
Watch S1-4 of Dexter, it's great so long as you recognize going in that it's a bit campy. (It's a show about a serial killer who kills other killers, what can you expect?) Then stop and watch Dexter: New Blood, which isn't great but far better than any of S5-8. You can watch it directly after season 4 and it works fine, it gives a decent ending for the series.
That reminds me; did Bryan ever explain the WTF thing with Bedelia at the table with her leg cut off and having been turned into a meal/Bedelia sitting at the table with said leg on the table about to be eaten?
That was there to imply Hannibal survived
Heard different things:
1. Bedelia had been captured by Hannibal/Will and they were going to slowly amputate her limbs and eat them over time and Francis ironically saved her life attacking them and forcing them to fall off the cliff
2. That she was at her own house and found a way to amputate her leg and cook it and was offering it up to Hannibal/Will to avoid being killed by them
3. That she was at Will and Hannibal's safe house and that the fact that there was four seats was supposed to indicate a planned storyline for S4 where we would meet one of Hannibal's uncles (who Fuller wanted David Bowie to play) that shared Hannibal's love of human flesh and was going to help them escape the US.
He did say that Will and Hannibal survived the Fall. The table is set for three, so I'm guessing they'd all be dining on her leg. The fourth season was going to be set in Cuba with as this user said murder husband activities.
Is Dexter S3 worth watching? I've always heard people say it sucks/should be skipped.
Meandering plot for muh artisticness is not an ingredient for a good season. Twin Peak watchers need to understand this. I'm not looking at moving paintings when I watch a show. I'm looking for story, character, dialogue etc.
Those early S3 episodes with overused slomo really dampen the experience that S2 brought up.
S3 is hated because it was a retred of S2's plot of "Dexter befriending someone and telling them he is a killer only for them to turn out to be psycho too and killing people, forcing Dexter to kill his new friend". Also, Jimmy Smitts gives a really bad performance as the big bad.
Seasonwise, it's worth watching only if you like Dexter's supporting cast so that you can follow their storylines going into S4.
The show plays into the homoeroticism but I think it's meant to be a "they're the only people who understand each other" kinda deal than they want to fuck each other. It's intense interest in each other but not in a necessarily sexual way.
Or they're fags take your pick. Still a great show.
Hannibal is an absolute kino. I don't get tired of rewatching it. S01 was good, maybe a bit stock in its monster of the week format. But later seasons are incredible. I hate faggots but I love Hannibal and Will
I also love the two gay fathers angle they got going on with Abigail Hobbs. I wish we got more of the family moments. So entertaining
Dexter drags, Hannibal is great all 3 seasons. You're gonna HATE every female character btw, Bloom being the absolute worst
Hannibal has its own problems but it's at least consistently good for 2/3 of its run
>I also love the two gay fathers angle they got going on with Abigail Hobbs
They aren't gay and you will never be a woman
I couldnt get over Will's faggotry over his super empathy special skills. Oh nooo Im crazy waaah. Everything else felt soap operaish it was dumb.
Abigail is honestly one of the worst parts of the show for me. I could never get into her character.
He was in the middle of cutting his head open before the Italian cops kidnapped them
i dropped hannibal at like the third episode where a supposed police protected house gets broken into by three persons, two teens even, in a matter of minutes to manufacture a fake climax scene. people say it gets better but i will go as far to doubt it, since a lot of tv shows don't earn their drama nor climax and just feels fake. it's like when people always kept saying to get into lost and i roll my eyes several times per episode at how unrealistic the characters behave just for the sake of it being "exciting" and "mysterious"
nobody mentions this but I thought Laurence Fishburne was a cool Jack Crawford
you're not wrong
It's corny but if you don't even like it at least for the characters it might not be for you
Laurence is great in everything
She wasn't well written imo and a mid actress. The ginger reporter was a great actress because I'm pretty sure my blood pressure spiked every time I saw her. I can't think of another character in any media that did that to me
