What went wrong?

it exists

The 1987 one didn't really need a remake

Nothing
you just haven't been told why it's good yet. give it another 10ish years and you'll understand

Dis

Idiot producers thought it would be a good idea to give an 80’s classic an artstation makeover and suck all the charm out of the movie

IT'S YO MOVE
D-D-D-D-D-DUEL

pretty much this.
as a movie of its own not connected in any way to robocop it would have been decent.

i mean its still undoubtedly better than the total recall remake.

This and the lead actor is a vanilla giant brother

1. It's PG-13
2. The message is too hamfisted

they made him black for most of the time
director had never made an american movie before
they made it pg-13 and didn't tell the actor until after he was cast
they somehow made the evil corporation MORE campy than the original
they swapped out his partner for no reason
they switched from having him slowly show more signs of his humanity to him slowly having his humanity erased
they made it NOT ABOUT FIGHTING CRIME
He's a fucking cop for crying out loud.
It's like, instead of the original story being a warning about how technology and rampant gang warfare will eventually lead to the over-militarization of police force, they just wanted to tell a story about how cops are bad, and more cops means more bad things, and a super cop would be SUPER bad

Naaaaah...

Didn't need to exist. I submitted a script that wasn't a remake but a in the spirit of type of movie that could have taken place in the same world about human robot swat team members where ones has a malfunction and regains his humanity and has to expose the local corrupt police and try to free his fellow swat officers but they rejected it.

black plastic skeleton

Wait a few years until they make another sequel to Robocop, everyone will complain about how woke the new one is and nostalgic zoomers will pretend this movie was always good

I know this fag of a director... He, a brazilian, embarasses us overseas in every chance he gets. I bet he became so butthurt about the main characters of Tropa de Elite (Elite Squad) being lauded as cool and heroic by the general public he tried to "course correct" in the mediocre sequel... And for whatever reason, when he got a gig in Hollywood, he, once again, hammered down "cOp BaD" in the soulless Robocop reboot. Fuck him.

It was better than it had any right to be and yet still wasn’t good enough. This is the fate of remakes to films that didn’t need to be remade.

no to mention the fucking human hand on the titular Robocop...

>black
>fights crime

???

That was one of the few things I liked, it was well justified by the story

Muh Fox News Samuel Jackson, Black police partner chemistry, weak action and Robocop made in China.

Movies can’t call out corporate fake activism or Leftism, would have been more relevant. It had nothing to say about society.

I seem to remember the state-controlled death-bot wasn't portrayed as being abominable or dangerous
so maybe there was no message?

the chip in his brain that makes him do things while making him think it's his own idea is literally what elon musk wants to put in your brain and people are unironically supportive of the idea

eeeehh, it is a blatant weak point and it made him look lame

he also said there was a lot of studio interference

iPhoneCop

That's the only scene I remember from this film.

Ok this scene is good. And this made laugh. I guess this movie will be remembered for this scene only. Any more examples?

It's really good. The ending was a bit of a fizzle I thought - more does not equal better - but I really enjoyed ot. Twice.

Total Recall remake? Highly enjoyable in its own right.

Needed to be r-rated, needed to focus around him shooting up criminals, not cgi robot drones, he needed a cop partner to play off, the ocp corporate villain needed to be more menacing, sam jackson as tucker carlson needed to be towned down, needed a good ed209 replacement robot that is still cool while being an original design, probably should have just turned to the Terminator rights holders and made the movie a Robocop vs Terminator film, both of those franchises need revitalization any how.

Honestly the biggest problem was they made it A robocop movie. The movie was fun at first up til he got to the facility. But once he leaves and it becomes a robocop movie it loses a lot of its magic.

I’m serious the biggest issue is that it wasn’t an original movie

I liked it well enough. Like user said before, its biggest problem is being called Robocop. Without that "baggage" everyone would probably mostly like this movie.

One thing tho, that bothers me: nobody every brings up the movie's strong anti-drug message. And I mean PRESCRIPTION drug. Robocop in this is drugged out of his mind, with anti-depression drugs etc, until he's only a zombie to be controlled. That - alongside the scary scene where his internals are revealed - are the things that really stand out to me about the movie.

The director is i kid you not a fuckin commies who support Nicolas Maduro. Só basically that.

Nobody cares about your third world politics.

The only worthwhile scene has been reenacted by a frog. The managed to make Samuel L Jackson appear toothless.
>At least they really went to Actual Detroit to film New Detroit this time.
What a waste.

It's not a bad movie, it's just that nobody ever asked for it.

I care, he brings shame to my country

Guys I have an idea
...
Robocuck

They didn't give him a sword

>Remake a classic known for its lovable villain
>remove that entirely

Maduro is gonna save america by lowering gas prices. Stop being a bitch

>Samuel L Jackson
>no n-words

I'm brazilian, I was refering to the director and Maduro has no plan because she has shit for brains

>she

Goddamit...

it was RuberCop insteed of RoboCop

I think it's underrated kino. RoboCop 87 is perfection so I like that they went in a different direction completely. Fuckers that want shot for shot remakes can fuck themselves.

moron

Its fine. Its a remake that actually does what a remake should which is take the central premise of the original and reinterpret it in a new way.

also the true sequel to robocop is ghost in the shell

>Fuckers that want shot for shot remakes can fuck themselves.
who has ever wanted this? seriously when people complain about remakes do you think they honestly complain because the remake is slightly different from the original or because the remake is completely pointless and never should've been made in the first place?

yeah, its this. i didnt need to see the character being nothing but an upper respiratory system and a hand somehow. you might as well make him full robot with a human face at that point like the original rather than try to have him maintain his humanity. and how fucked up was it that oldman guilted him into living that way? i would have told that asshole to tell my family i was only a set of lungs and a brain

>they just wanted to tell a story about how cops are bad

i dont think that was the point of the story. especially since murphy murph and lew were the focus.

Nothing it was awesome. One of the last good movies before wokism took over.

a new way that was shit, hooray!

idiot

how new robocop showed he was human
>cry, drama shit, muh famiry, expositions such and such
how old new robocop showed he was human
>do the gun spinny thing

>-new
I'm retarded

NTA but it wasn't shit. It was a good movie. The action was exciting, the story was compelling, there were not bad scenes or boring bits.
And considering it's an origin story they even managed to make the stuff before he was robocop interesting.

Compare it to Venom in which the first 45 minutes of the movie can be cut completely, and it's still mostly boring.

how did his hand get food and nutrients?

no u

You can see the blood tube in that image.

> Kill me.
Best scene in the dogshit movie that probably wasn’t even directed by the director.

I liked it, but it didn't need to exist.
