Well it is a good movie over all don’t mistake me but it still is a primitive movie:
Slow as hell and primitive character development (there is no character arch, no character improves his personality)
The final battle is stupid and anticlamatic, whereas it should have been epic
The scenes with the painted irish spy are slow as fuck to the point of non sense

It develops the characters but in a very deliberate fashion. Though I can't deny that Barry Lyndon in some fashion treats its actors as vehicles to introduce the setting sometimes, that's really the only flaw of the film
