>What's a trope you dislike in Christian cinema?
Too preachy not subtle. And also christian cinema is afraid to show evil shit, the world is fallen get over it soccer moms I would do anything for a pic related film
look in the bottom right corner
religion is a crutch
Its the opposite, its necessary for society
>low iq: god is real
>reddit tier iq: god is LE FAKE
>hight iq: there is a devine force of some kind
>Yea Forums: big chungus bacons at midnight also i love trannies
It's a difficult line to cross when it comes to showing evil / sin in film. It can be done tastefully, but yeah I don't think Christian films should shy away from difficult subjects and visuals.
Its weird, because christianity is the most METAL religion in existance. Its the only religion that admits the world is run by evil really, and that the current king of the earth is a demonic monster who wants to destroy reality.
More of a thing of religion in general but if there are these huge omnipotent forces about, why do they for instance allow horrors to happen in their name? How many people have been brutally murdered with the killer in the thought that he's 100% doing it for the benefit of Jesus or Allah by killing the infidel or blasphemer, ect?
And on the other hand, how are we assured at all to not be led astray if Satan could just simply take the form of Christ and lead people to him while they think they're heading down the righteous path? Which denomination is supposed to be the correct path, will you be condemned for false idol worship with Catholicism over say Protestantism?
Is everyone who wasn't born before Christ sacrificed himself doomed simply by just being born at the wrong place and/or at the wrong time if they lived in Austraila or North America 3000 years ago and would have had zero way of knowing anything about Yahweh doing things in Egypt and the Middle East, let alone knowing they need to worship Christ for salvation?
I still prefer to think there's something after all of this at the end of the day, but there's just a lot of questions, and are questions condemnable since they're sort of by nature showing a lack of faith?
what are you talking about?
I'm saying that boomer christians can't make films with darker themes because they are afraid of offending other christians but christianity is a really dark religion that literally would be at home in a dark souls game or a metal hurlant magazine.
you make some good points, Christianity is an old, old religion. it's so interesting watching people try to twist this bronze age mythology into something more palatable to modern audiences
Touching on your points.
- Catholicism (specifically Roman Catholicism also holding a Sedevacantist belief) is Christ's Church on earth. Looking into Reverand Donald Sanborn on youtube for more information. The Catholic church cannot teach sin (because God cannot/will not teach sin/error), so you will know the true Church of Christ because it will adhere most closely to His teachings.
- Islam is a parody/plagarism of Christianity taking the footnotes but completely missing the point and adhering to a Satanic/Materialist system of beliefs. Christianity is about repentance of one's original and on-going sins; Islam believes you are born sinless (this alone proves how retarded it is).
- People born before Christ's time on Earth go to limbo and will receive righteous judgement under God's providence.
- Christ revolutionised the way man views his himself; He taught us about the nature of the soul vs the nature of the flesh. Listen to 'The Sermon on the Mount' for Christ's manifesto of belief.
Today I read a chapter of the Old Testament where two priests get drunk and light a 'strange fire' (basically lighting a fire the non-holy way God said they should) at an altar and God literally burned them alive for it.
It's very metal but it makes complete sense. God says don't do X, they do X, they get punished severely because God said don't do X.
if the true church if Christ is the one adhering most closely to his teachings then you want orthodoxy, not catholicism
Even as a christian though, sometimes God comes off as a real jerk.
Orthodoxy allows divorce and re-marriage up to four times. Christ explicitly said that this is wrong. In the Traditional Catholic faith you get married for life. There is no second marriage.
The movie A Man for All Seasons is about a saint who died for this very point. Henry the 8th literally ruined Christianity in England and became the figurehead (not valid) of the English church just so he could remarry again and again.
Citation for remarriage:

So what would say prevent Satan from taking the form of a man and becoming Pope to corrupt the church, and by extension, the billion plus followers through his corruptive edicts?
If you had a vision today how would you know it was God, Christ, or some demonic deceiver and having your good intentions pave your path to Hell?
Or even just times changing sort of like how you have now where the church is more and more politically influenced and starts giving the OK on things that it used to consider sins like divorce, gay marriage, abortions, sodomy, birth control, ect?
You say Islam is a parody, but how are you supposed to know, especially if you just lived your whole life under it like if you were born in some Islamic totalitarian state from cradle to grave? You never were given the chance to know otherwise, might even get you killed to even consider conversion or something, are they to be condemned for things beyond their control, especially in this context, a life that effectively is crafted by God, which gets into the predestination/ illusion of free will stuff. Or if you do evil but it's because of a brain tumor, does Charles Wittman go to Hell because God decided to put a walnut sized tumor in his brain, or other things where people did evil acts but only because they actually had something happen to their brain like undiagnosed cancer or extreme mental illness, out of their control and free will?
And can finite crimes on Earth really justify an eternity of suffering, infinite punishment for finite evil?
I guess there is a lot of juicy sort of existential crisis of faith stuff to work with in a book or script, but I think people generally don't view religion very seriously and these days might see like a religious horror movie ala The Omen as kind of kitschy and outdated.
- Satan wouldn't need to take physical form when there's an endless amount of people doing his will already. The current 'Pope' for instance.
- I've never had a vision of God and I've wondered if I would know the difference myself. It's not something I can know until I've experienced it. I would say though that Christ won't ever teach against His own beliefs. So if a fake-Christ tried to tell me to kill myself, or kill someone, I would at least question it severely first.
- That's why Traditional Roman Catholics (like Reverand Sanborn) exist to keep the Church traditional. The Novus Ordo (the Vatican Free Masons) have subverted the face of the Church, but the true valid Church is still going strong.
- Islam is a parody because it is paganism with some Christian dressing. There are no idols in Christianity (same as Judaism of the Old Testament). An idol is giving the properties of God to an object, like The Golden Calf. Islam has clay birds that fly about, and they treat their Quran as an idol thought they'll double-talk and say it isn't.
- Hundreds of thousands of Muslims convert to Christianity every year, and many Muslims don't believe but pretend to so they don't get murdered by their friends and family. Christians don't murder if you don't believe.
A lot of religions are pretty crazy, there's a lot there for good metal stuff.
I mean, tell me this isn't metal as shit.
Hinduism is also metal. But chirstianiaty is way more
>demons
>floods
>fire from heaven destroying towns
>mass genocides
>incest
>rivers of blood
>God smiting niggas
>people getting killed by bears
>sea monsters
>thicc hussy of babylon
I really really like this picture.
Can Stalker be considered a christian film?
- When talking about how fair it is that someone has a tumour that messes with their brain, or has a life where they don't really get a chance to know Christ, it is left to God's providence to decide their fate; God is righteous and will judge fairly according to His own Word.
- The crime is a symptom of lack of repentance of sinful behaviour and mindset. You can be forgiven your sins but you could die this instant, which is why one should always try to repent and live a good life so that when the hour of death comes you haven't played yourself. No unclean soul enters Heaven. Many will need to be cleansed in Purgatory first. Saints skip Purgatory and go straight to Heaven.
- And yeah there's an endless stream of questions to look into about the faith, but that feeds our hunger to know God better. There's always more to learn of God. Our souls crave God and information, and we can find both through learning more about the faith.
That's all the Jewish stuff though
Not really. It's anti-Christian if anything. It is anti-meaning. Communist / Marxist / Pseudo-Enlightenment / Satanic in its views. Three hours of pseudo philosophical babble and desolate imagery, where nothing amounts to anything. At best the movie is interesting as a sign of the impotence of the human spirit and intellect when it separates itself from God and spirituality.
Revelation is as metal as it gets. That comes after 'all the Jewish stuff' of the Old Testament. And it'll hit harder too when it comes.
Btw we're 2/3 of the way into Revelations right now. Things are going to get wild in our lifetime.
The director was orthodox.
Might as well be protestant in that case.
Old testament is hebrew not jewish. What we call jews nowadayts are a different religion
>t.ethnic jew whos christian
Yeah its pretty clear when you see how fucking UGLY 'Jews' today are vs the Hebrew chads of Old Testament / New Testament times.
>Literally made films in the soviet union and had to fight agaisnt them censoring his films
>deeply orthodox and made ANDREI RUBELEV a movie about Christianity
>hes not christian lol
I'm not saying he's not Christian. But there is a huge difference between Protestant, Orthodox, Catholic, etc. These differences manifest in the art people make. Not even saying he's a bad person, but having watched Stalker I very much thought it sucked and has no positive religious merit to it.
absurdism btfo by christianity
I always felt Stalker was more sort of pro religion because a lot of it seemed to deal with the emptiness people felt when there was a lack of faith in life and living, it's what the Stalker is so upset about in the end when he's on the bed talking to his wife.
Fair enough if you want to view it from that context. You might be right. Just for me it goes hand in hand with that era of nihilistic filmmaking. I hated The Seventh Seal for a similar reason. Complete shit.
>The Seventh Seal
Its a movie about doubt. This is why I can't stand most christian films anymore as a chrsitian, because you have to portray christians as being happy all the time. Doubt is normal, it should be shown realistically and taken seriously.
I haven't seen the Seventh Seal, and I know I should just from the impact it's had and stuff.
But just to finish before I go, I also felt that the end of Stalker, where she's moving the cups was sort of that hopeful note, that she was sort of connected to the world/zone in a way most weren't, and with Beehtoven's 9th playing, it came off like she'd be the one to sort of keep carrying the faith/the light, however you want to think of it, in the dark world, and so I guess I saw the ending as sort of hopeful really between the wife saying she's found happiness in the life she's been given, her reassuring Stalker and the power of their child (Monkey I think, although I can't remember if that was book only or made it into the movie)
Yeah, I guess that's the biggest thing is just how to deal with doubt and stuff, I mean, especially hearing and reading about the struggle even someone like Mother Terresa had through her life and her crisis of faith and just in her words not feeling the touch/light of God in Calcutta when she's dealing with all those sick kids and watching them die unable to really help them.
I think you're making more out of Stalker than it really is. OR I'm making less of it. Maybe we're both right in our own ways.
Consideing pic in op, do we count Percy Jackson adaptations as christian cinema?
>What's a trope you dislike in Christian cinema?
breaking the second commandment
>Its the opposite, its necessary for society
a sick society that needs a crutch ?
What's that got to do with Christian cinema?
well it's kinda antithetical to the whole ethos of Christianity to go around breaking one of Christ's commands, innit ?
Which part is that
A graven image means worshipping idols. Looking to a cruxifix as a symbol of Christ's sacrifice is fine and even intended. Movies that aren't subversive and promote good Christian values are just another means of exploring the mystery and joy of the Christian faith.
Atheists are literally mutants. We're evolutionarly selected for religion, religious people are more likely to be happy, less sickly, suicidal. Atheists are more likely to have autism, more likely to be ugly, commit suicide, have bad skin, have manic depressive disorders and more likely to vote left
1] And Nadab and Abiu, the sons of Aaron, taking their censers, put fire therein, and incense on it, offering before the Lord strange fire: which was not commanded them. [2] And fire coming out from the Lord destroyed them, and they died before the Lord. [3] And Moses said to Aaron: This is what the Lord hath spoken: I will be sanctified in them that approach to me, and I will be glorified in the sight of all the people. And when Aaron heard this, he held his peace. [4] And Moses called Misael and Elisaphan, the sons of Oziel, the uncle of Aaron, and said to them: Go and take away your brethren from before the sanctuary, and carry them without the camp. [5] And they went forthwith and took them as they lay, vested with linen tunicks, and cast them forth, as had been commanded them.
Evolution as a concept is antithetical to Christian belief. Next you'll say that we went to the moon, that the Earth is a globe, and that dinosaurs existed.
Modern evolutionary theory is faulty yes but some form of genetic adaption exists, its self evident. Human beings were under much more aggressive darwinian constraints before the industrial revolution, modern medicince literally helped make atheists
>moon
agnostic
>globe
agnostic
>dinosaurs
probably real but alot of what we know is fake
AYYO HOL UP
Sure is a funny coincidence how Jews still practice the same traditions as ancient Hebrews and said traditions are completely alien to any Indo-European spirituality.
leviticus 10
>A graven image means worshipping idols.
graven means crafted
second commandment is, don't be making no crafted images of things in heaven or on earth and giving them worship -- for I the Lord am a jealous God
i didn't mention crucifixes, since we were talking about Kristos Kino, and the images of Christ we see in film are verbotten -- just as much as any image you kiss, light candles under, or carry around in procession as a holy relic that carries some spiritual power
>Atheists are literally mutants.
y'know that Scripture say that by default, all humanity is in rebellion against God, right ?
so in a sense, anti-christ or a-theist is our nature until God directly intervenes and gives one eyes to see -- literally resurrecting and regenerating the spiritually dead
Reminder that everything you think you know of God, is really just our alien creators
Do not worry though, there is still one true creator above the "fallen angel" who runs this world.
Dude Buddhism's (actual Buddhism practiced by asian people) whole thing is that the world is evil and you should basically find a way to kill yourself asap to escape it.
Where is your wife and children, le based trad man?
The key word is worship. I don't worship cinema. In my mind I know contextually that I'm watching fiction, making that distinction is all the difference.
>The key word is worship.
is it ?
is that the sole focus of the 2nd commandment ?
so we're going to just set aside the direct command of God not to make any images of Him ?
this isn't about your subjective experience, it's about God's ordinances, and while you may not personally be affected -- and none of the weaksauce theology presented in Christian film colours your perspective -- there's a pretty good reason not to disobey God on this one, because not everyone is going to resist the temptation you so nobly wage war against
... but more importantly, now i think about it
because God says so
The modern jews worship satan and demons, say prayers in differen languages to trick the spirits, follow a religion that says christ is in hell and mary was a slut.
