I think I remember reading at some point that the original pitch involved American Nazis, so I wouldn't be surprised if the writers kept the aesthetics

Yeah, it was meant to be a show about the rise of fascism within America, but wrapping it in a sci-fi setting was what got it greenlit.

I hated Morena with short hair. Also why I couldn't enjoy her in that one with the american bomber dude where she was the wife.

All I remember from this show was the alien mom ordering her daughter to mate with her human friend to get him to join them. I, for one, welcome our new alien overlords and pledge to do my part at the breeding camps.
