You'd think so but it doesn't scale linearly. For mammals, the BMR goes rougly as (mass)^(3/4) (Kleiber's law). Surprisingly, this applies pretty well to individuals as well, not just to the average of each species. So, the fatter you get, the fewer calories *per pound* you need to maintain your weight. It's a bargain! Eat twice as much and be four times as fat!
