There's unironically a form of OCD where you're plagued by disturbing thoughts. It's a dysfunction of the part of the brain related to survival mechanisms, to suddenly race to the nth degree of what could go wrong.

It's as if there's no conceivable way the worst possible scenario would happen in a given situation, i.e. kissing a girl, but your brain is in such disarray that it throws at you the most extreme situation that could happen.
