Tommy Lee Jones was the worst part of the movie. I don't know if it was him or the general direction but there are no excuses for that shallow portrayal of Two Face. Batman Forever came out in 95, so there was plenty of source material for a deeper take on the character. Maybe he didn't give a shit but good actors give their best no matter the role. I liked Jim Carrey as the riddler because he felt like a character with actual human emotions like grief, jealousy, ambition and so on. He wasn't just an alternate version of the Joker.

It was sanctioned. Carrey’s was not.

It's extremely gay. Robin is a fag, there's close ups of bat ass sliding into spandex, terrible dialogue like "Chciks love the car" and "I'll get drive thru". But boomers have nostalgia for it because it reminds them of their wasted youth. The Seal song is pretty good, other than that, the movie is total shit.

because Jim Carey is so over the top, the director wanted all of the others to ham it up so that it wouldn't appear too jarring. it was a mistake.

There's a fan edit of the film out there which includes deleted scenes and removes some of the over-the-top stuff, making it darker and cooler than the theatrical cut.

Is there a source on that? It doesn't seem right to me. Every other Jim Carrey movie where he plays a whacked out freak uses his contrast from regular people for the comedy.
And in this type of movie, the villain is always an over the top guy while the hero is more down to earth.

Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were revivals of the 60s sitcom where they just have a bunch of big actors dress in costumes and do all kinds of goofy shit. I don't know why they thought it would be a good idea especially when it canonically continues the story from the Burton films which have the polar opposite tone.
