Why did Fincher do it?

It was the studio, not Fincher. Also the assembly cut is still the worst of the original 3 films you fucking plebs, stop shilling like it's some kind of underrated gem

Attached: 07557724654.png (555x644, 553.46K)

You're both gay.

Soundtrack was kino anyway

>Goldenthal stops scoring films to work in opera
Dammit.

Prometheus > 3 > 1 > 2 > trash
Don't bother replying to me with your pleb tier opinions

Attached: 1637867172308.png (1000x1024, 377.41K)

Assembly cut was the worst of the 3, but it isn't an awful movie and is miles better then 4.

it wasn't his movie
he was a music video director and got pushed around by studio assholes
seven is his real first film

Attached: seven.jpg (1801x2815, 1.79M)

>CGI alien
What the fuck were they thinking

idk but jeunet restored it

I personally prefer 3 to Aliens and I haven't even watched the Assembly Cut.

>but it isn't an awful movie and is miles better then 4.
Lol
4 is a dumpster fire but at least it's fun to watch, 3 is a pseudo 2deep4u mess with no payoff

Shut the fuck up Ridley and die already you old fuck

>first script set in monastery
>change it to prison
>but the prisoners turned themselves into monks
>and it's not a prison anymore
>but there's still prisoners and guards in the not-prison
Honestly I can't figure out these changes, unless prison movies were popular at the time and they only did a half-ass rewrite to milk the prison cow?

>kill characters people liked for no reason
Did Hicks and Newt triggered his autism or what?
It would have been a way better movie if they survived and died later in the movie
Hell, if he left Newt alive she could even have been the next MC even with Ripley dead

You're mistaken. That's not Alien Resurrection.

Alien Tesurrection was trash kino, 3 is just bad even if it has great parts

>Queen already ripped off her eggsack before getting into the ship
>one egg still find it's way into the ship for some reason
> there's actually two facehuggers, the one got Ripley and the one got into the dog/ox. But the scene only shows 1 egg
>none of these ever being explained at all
>you liked these characters?, lmao fuck you
The whole movie starts off being retarded

>I personally prefer 3 to Aliens
Why

Idk but Hicks was hot

>*ruins your franchise*
More like it gave it a dignified death after Cameron raped it

They were thinking a lot. Unlike you, since the alien isn't CGI.

Same as Terminator.

>since the alien isn't CGI.
>those chase scenes
Lol
Lmao

>Being both blind AND ignorant on the subject matter you're trying to criticize

Neck yourself

>Ackshully it's a composite!
It still looks like trash

alien 3 and resurrection aren't as good as the first two but they're still good and underrated

They're still better than Covenant, that's for sure
Premetheus hurts because I wanted it to be good, but it was a massive miss

One of the basic problems with the whole franchise after the first film is that you have to make a decision about what direction to take the xenomorph. Is the xenomorph a subhuman-intelligence animal-like creature, sort of like velociraptors in Jurassic Park? Or is the xenomorph capable of human-level (or maybe even greater) intelligence? The first film left that ambigous. Cameron took the franchise into the "xenomorphs are basically animals" territory. Which made for a good film, but then the problem is, these xenomorphs are not really a threat to any properly-equipped group of humans unless they are present in enormous numbers. It's the same sort of problem as with trying to make dinosaurs a believable threat. At the end of the day, a few skilled people with machine guns could wipe out loads of the creatures. So to create scenarios in which the creatures are believable threats you have to do stuff like make the humans really outnumbered, or have them lack weapons, or have them get sabotaged by an evil corporation, etc.

>but then the problem is, these xenomorphs are not really a threat to any properly-equipped group of humans unless they are present in enormous numbers
Considering almost all the marines died, I think they're still make a massive threat

>The first film left that ambigous.
The first movie had the alien literally blocking Ripley's path to the escape pod and then sneaking into it. It was clearly smart to some degree, it knew Ripley would try to get there

Kill yourself

you now remember the newborn

>Considering almost all the marines died
Generic Vietnam War tropes mandate they die due to getting too cocky

same
james cameron stinks

But cameron already killed the franchise with aliens?

No he didn't

Well, they died cause there were only like ~10 of them against seemingly hundreds of xenomorphs, and their leader sucked, and they had a corporate saboteur on board. Basically the plot had to have a perfect storm of shit go wrong for the humans in order to make the animalistic xenomorphs seem like a credible threat.

Interesting, I'd never picked up on that detail before. I guess it still leaves the question open though of whether that's animal cunning or human-level intelligence or something else.

>and they had a corporate saboteur on board
He literally did jack shit expect for releasing the facehuggers and that even failed

Better than Aliens

Remind me why Yea Forums has such a hate boner for Cameron? Is the Avatar memes?

>"you've been in my life for so long I don't remember anything else"
It was only a few weeks, Fincher. What the fuck

that and the Titanic memes

I still don't understand why the Alien spared the cat, it was supposed to kill anything in sight and it ignored the cat, fucking twice

Attached: 20220402_202629.png (1244x1553, 3.36M)

Seven is shit lmao

It had its sights set on a different pussy

based xeno

Well the Alien was pretty large for most of the film, maybe the cat could just sneak through places where it couldn't fit

Attached: 4859332923.jpg (559x728, 154.96K)

imagine thinking this unironically

There's a deleted scene where it tries to get to the cat inside the box when Ripley leaves it behind for a moment, and it gets angry it can't figure out how to open it

Attached: 1833655033576793.jpg (500x351, 82.43K)

The theater cut is better

I prefer the assembly cut over Aliens, honestly. Aliens is a fun watch but it's very comic book, which I don't think suits the series. 3 was a welcome return to the grim misery of the first one and I found the characters a lot more believable than the cartoon marines.

>deleted scene
Of course

Ok Reddit

But I liked the cartoon marines, they were great

Nice dubs, you knuckle dragging cunt.
They're entertaining but they feel like they belong in an Arnie movie.

I enjoyed Resurrection a lot more than 3, the only thing that bothers me is the ending

Alien 3 > Aliens

Cry more, don't @ me

Shit taste, kill yourself

Scott probably thought it looked goofy, but the point is the intent was there to show the Alien did care about trying to kill the cat like everything else, which was the question.

youtube.com/watch?v=e7nC3WQBFw8

Give it to me straight, Yea Forums
Is there a chance to revive the franchise and to make it good this time?

was lambert actually a tranny or it's just a rumor?

Speaking of comics, Alien comics had quite some interesting ideas
I wish we can get to see xenomorph android in live action someday lol

Attached: b6b.jpg (600x923, 122.38K)

Nothing after Aliens directors cut was good.

>You now remember the guy who the xenos tried to force him into fucking his mom

It's mid-tier for an action film and and massive downgrade and retread of Alien. At least Alien 3 tries a to change things up a bit. And the upside camerawork during the final chase was great

AVP was trashkino and I still enjoy it to this day

smart decision to leave it out, makes the alien seem kind of dumb. potentially intelligent creature singularly focused on impregnating humans is scarier

Was killing Newt and the other guy really necessary? shit felt like a spiteful decision

Fox is now owned by d*sney which means we will probably never see another Alien movie ever again. iirc there is some direct-to-streaming show in development so I bet that will probably be the future for the franchise for a long time.

That guy was more interesting antagonist than David

Is David even a thing from the comics? Because it looks like it was just Fassbender shilling

Yeah, plus generally the more you see of the creature the less scary it gets. Like, this deleted scene reminds me of a Jurassic Park velociraptor, not of cosmic horror.

*to be clear, I mean this creature specifically - not necessarily all creatures in general

Its on the level of not-quite-human intelligence. the horror comes from something like where all animal horror comes from, humans are theoretically the superior being but that makes it all the more scary when they display similar intelligence or physically best us. the alien has the added layer of being so physically superior and different to any earth predator that the question of whether it is actually superior in its way is posed

I can't remember what movie it is where they continually refer to this weird bug monster as "the perfect being" and offer no explanation as to what that means.

>Yeah, plus generally the more you see of the creature the less scary it gets.
Is the xenomorph still scary to modern horror standards/audiences or it needs to do something else to work?

Ironically comics already did 'Human research team finding out Space Jokey facility but evil android betrays them' story way before Prometheus
And honestly it was more entertaining

Attached: Aliens_Apocalypse_The_Destroying_Angels_1.jpg (1048x1595, 668.25K)

>the horror comes from something like where all animal horror comes from, humans are theoretically the superior being but that makes it all the more scary when they display similar intelligence or physically best us.
It's also the same case with Predator
Humans have been thaught from early age that we're on top of the food/species chain or pyramid, both the xenomorph and the Yautja shit on that concept
Agains the Yautja we're the prey
Against the xenomorph we're both prey, rape victim *and* breeding stock

It was in the first movie, told by Ash

>Alien
>cosmic horror
U w8 m8?

>Against the xenomorph we're the rape victim
Hahaha

Bump

fun fact:
Riddick was originally meant to be in this movie. that woulda been cool right?

No
it would have made it worse

I just don't really like Aliens. It feels so much dumber than the original film and almost retroactively ruins it for me. I don't really like James Cameron in general outside of T1 and T2. I like Alien 3 just because of the tone and some of the aesthetic choices. It's a very flawed movie but I don't hate it like everyone else does. Resurrection is far worse.

it knew that cats are all cunts

kek

The creature itself is not so much cosmic horror, but the movie "Alien" very much is. Not because of the creature itself, but because of what the various alien presences on LV-426 imply about humanity very likely not being the most advanced species even in its own neighborhood, so to speak. And also because of how powerfully the movie shows a cold, extremely isolated deep space sort of mood.

It's better than Aliens and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

this

The assembly was kino. I liked the religious undertones 2bh,

Cope. 3 is shit and rightfully shat on

Weaver insisted on writing her own dialogue for the movie. You can blame her and her writers, not Fincher.

Dangerously based.

You're shit lmao

Hicks should have survived and/or at last clapped Ripley's cheeks before dying

What a weird line to spit out at that moment

youtube.com/watch?v=eoZXTGcKuO4

>not like we're engaged, haha
Guy clearly wanted to

I like the line and the idea behind it honestly it just fucks the whole continuity up. Disappointing.

>CO is a pussy
>sent to shithole full of monsters
>barely survived only to die in his sleep
>never got to smash the qt pilot girl
he had a hard life

fincher saved this mess from being a total write off.
start making sets before the script is done.
no vision, studio demands everywhere, Weaver wanting stupid shit like shagging the alien.
fincher arrives when there was no money left to correct anything and makes a watchable film out of this mess. what a pro.
the film is still a waste of potential and i really tried to like it but would happily never watch it again. Yes i have seen the assembly cut as well. no it does not make it any better.
dog shaped alien comes out of a buffalow. fuck off.

>Weaver wanting stupid shit like shagging the alien.
The fuck?

Never forget

Attached: alium.jpg (1042x532, 167.35K)

In Alien 1, not really
In Aliens, you can see the file behind Ripley and it mentions that she's indeed MtF, so you can thank Cameron or the PA of your choice for that

Attached: image_2022-04-04_152217.png (410x377, 213.21K)

The girl who played Newt would have been 6 years older. How would they explain that away?
Hicks was written out after the actor demanded too much money.

Won't be the first time child recasts were made
And...kind of a point, but I would have been that bad to pay the guy a little more, though

Ash in the first movie calls it the "perfect being". He then explains himself immediately: the being perfectly adapted for survival, due to its physical strength, hostility and lack of remorse and compassion.

Imagine doing this to your dog in halloween and letting him loose

She got her way in the next movie.

Aliens > Alien >>> Resurrection > 3

the other movies are not canon

Attached: winona ryder as call.jpg (863x600, 88.09K)

She was so cute

I can't be the only one who think she and Ripley had some weird flirty moments

Resurrection had Ron Perlman, that alone puts him above 3
But holy shit, that opening sequence sucked ass, though

Why haven't they made an AVP starring both Sigourny and Arnold? It would be at the most kino and at the least entertaining as shit

Completely wrong. Resurrection is fucking terrible. It's not even enjoyable as schlock because of Whedon's shitty dialogue. Alien is objectively the best.

>Aliens before Alien
You're a fucking mongoloid, congratulations for making the most retarded post itt

The roles did were offered. Weaver looked at P.W.S Anderson and the script and already knew the movie would be bad, so she refused
Arnie was going to join, but he got elected as governor

We'll always have Fanfiction

Well whoopee fucking do.

Do the Species movies count as such?

because AVP only works in the comics

*filters your pleb*

what one was that?

Honestly, the videogame had a better story.
The queen facehuggers on the emergency pod were two, one impregnated someone (or an animal) at the arrival on the colony, and then the newborn queen started to lay eggs that impregnated the bovines, filling the colony with xeno warriors.
If the movie would have followed this simple idea it would have been a poor man's version of Aliens, but always a better movie than the poor man's version of Alien that is Alien 3.

agreed. u are my brother now.

They should make a movie out of this game since it's basically a movie game too, and it's even better and less retarded than Aliens as a sequel.

Veronica Cartwright told in a interview that Lambert was supposed to be the protagonist of the movie, then the part gone to Sigurney Weaver and her character. I think that at some point Scott and O'Bannon were fascinated by the art of Giger and tried to focus the story even more on the sexual key of reading, putting on scene the fight between two different sexualities, the "unnatural" one of Lambert, who was scientifically made a woman, and that of the xeno, primordial, istinctive and as natural as brutal.

>all of that and in the end Lambert dies impaled by the pussy
Wew, lad

Cartwright sounded a little pissed when she recalled the fact.

>and that of the xeno, primordial, instinctive and as natural as brutal.
So at first the Alien was supposed to be female? Because iirc in the first one it was a droid
It would have been kino to see a more sexual side of the movie, though. Giger really makes sex look disturbing

Attached: Tumblr_l_655671317815226.jpg (2048x1425, 422.25K)

It was, iirc the writer admitted he only did it because he hated newt.

Wow, what a fag

>be turned from MC to a side character
>also into thebscaredy chicken of the cast
>death remembered as a rape joke
Yeah, no shit

>So to create scenarios in which the creatures are believable threats you have to do stuff like make the humans really outnumbered, or have them lack weapons, or have them get sabotaged by an evil corporation, etc.
Or make humans stupid which is terrible writing.
Anyways, my take is that xenomorphs are bioweapons designed to take down entire planets by adapting to it's dominant lifeform, then die in a matter of days/weeks

You forgot
>Don't get to star in the highly successful sequel
>Don't get to ask for millions and millions of dollars for the mediocre sequels following the successful movies
>Don't become extremely famous
Who wouldn't be pissed?

For me, it's the unmade Alien sequel about the wooden planet

I have no idea, I first saw the movie back around 1994 when I was about 11.

>being so physically superior and different to any earth predator that the question of whether it is actually superior in its way is posed
That actually doesn't work for me unless the xenomorph has at least roughly human-level intelligence. Its individual physical superiority to humans in practice could not make up for a lack of a highly organized military using ranged weapons, for example. Just like a well-organized army of trained skinny weak dudes with rifles would under most conditions easily destroy an army of buff guys who can do nothing other than try to engage in hand-to-hand combat.

She was dreaming about the Alien in cryosleep for 57 years

I like them both but I can't get over the fact people were mad at 3 for killing Newt & Hicks. Were people that attached to them?

>Were people that attached to them?
Killing them was literally the first complaint that comes when mentioning Alien 3, so yeah

Yes

Aliens already ruined the franchise

>Aliens is.....LE BAD!
Just fucking acid your sperm organs already, nigger.

It's merely mediocre, but Alien was so much better that the only way to salvage the series is to consider Alien a standalone film and ignore everything else.

I've never seen it mention before but Aliens ruined it. Fincher saved it.

3 didn't ruin the franchise, it just wasn't a great film. Aliens was a great film in itself, but it was a bad Alien film and it ruined the franchise.

Kek, the ammount of seethe in this post

Aliens did nothing wrong
Except for not having more gory deaths
