Gender dysphoria is a dark mindset that touches on all the taboos and disturbing themes (mutilation, suicide, sexual deviancy, and a torturous journey that leads to the eventual realization of an imperfect physical burden you were lied to about and will have to live with for the rest of your life). That's going to turn a lot of people off, especially those who don't know much about post op life. Like I said, you could try to fluff it up and add a fantasy element but it will seem disingenuous, especially to those who are going through that mental ailment.

Honestly OP, I won't try to dissuade you from your life views. I do recommend that before you try and write this book, read up on and interview those going through the various stages. Find out about the stuff they tend to sweep under the rug (especially on post-op life). I still feel it's a sisyphean task to try and make this topic well received or enjoyable for any audience. The subject matter is far too niche, too political, and the reality is too grim. Good luck, I suppose.
