Why do you have a screen protector on your ereader
What could possibly happen to it ?
i live in a rough neighborhood
So change the dictionary, dingus
Is that On Pain?
why didn't you get a kobo?
ye
see
cant
>buys chink-reader
>surprised when there is chink-letters
So wat
lucky you, I've spent the last weeks trying to EVEN START to read a Thomas Bernhard novel that irrevocably petrifies my entire e-reader, and forces me to restart the entire system, any time i turn to any page yonder of page 8. It's unfathomably infuriating, especially because I can read the file no problem with the calibre built in reader. People, heed my advice: Give the widest of berths to any e-reader device and any person suggesting the acquisition of one to you.
Change the format retard
what's the problem? why don't you just install a better dictionary on it?
got my likebook ares, so far fairly happy with it. they need to improve a few features with the type setting on the built in program but i'd say its 90%there.
already tried that retard, thanks anyway
I have a crack on my kindle screen
I've had 3 of these, all broke the screen super easily (currently on my 4th one).
Very useful device but screen breaks too easily, and you can't even rescue the data inside once it happens
Just buy a good one instead of multiple shitty ones
what the fuck are you doing to it, i've had mine for 3 years and it's fine.
why post this face
The Kobo Aura one is pretty good. Durable(which is nice as I'm pretty clumsy, have a few dents in it haha), the storage is good I've never had a problem there, interface is slightly slower than most electronics nowadays but a seconds lag doesn't bother me much, and it was a blue light elimination/natural light function which is nice.
Using sources in the Yea Forums catalog has made reading life far faster and easier. The convenience is incredible. Got tomes on this thing it's a library onto itself.
Oh and it's got a beta feature internet browser
Pic rel8ed
Although after i think 2 ish years i just broke it dropped a big empty mug on it lol
Still worth it next one will be super cheep
I picked up a Sony reader from a thrift store for 11 dollars including case. It's a pinkish purple colour but I'm not too concerned about the colour. 100% worth it.
It's been almost a whole year and i never had any issues with my kindle paperwhite. Sadly for some fucking reason my pc doesn't recognize the device and I'm unable to pirate modern literature now. Anyway, I'm using it to read mainly long classical works and i couldn't be any more satisfied about it. The longest book i ever read so far was the Dyonisiaca and after fiddling a while with calibre i managed to reduce the file size to make it readable on my device. IIRC i erased the latter half of the work (I bought the delphi classics edition) which was just the original greek text i wouldn't have been able to read.
like the PC doesn't recognize it when connected to USB? I think you can send it stuff over wifi with calibre
I stepped on my Kindle, barely cracked the shell and I'm not a lightweight. Have a hard time imagining what people are doing to crack their screens.
The problem is with the file, not the e-reader. Which Bernhard novel, though? I read The Loser a couple of weeks ago and loved it.
I've never even heard of that brand before. At least get a Kindle or a Kobo. Jesus.
I've killed two by screen destruction. I mostly use it when hiking.
A few years back on my birthday I got a nook glowlight plus. I pirated thousands of books for it. I can read it in the bathtub with the lights off. It's great

>cries about it

Just get a kindle, not some chink piece of shit. You can easily pirate books with Kindle as well. I have paid for maybe 1% of the ebooks I have on my kindle.
>muh brands
Kys bugman
Enjoy your broken shit, I guess.
That's what i used to do sort of a LAN server type thing
you can also just send pdfs to your amazon email and it will download them to your kindle

So is the kindle good for the humanities only, specifically Religious Studies?
Bumping because it is rare to see an e-book thread on Yea Forums.
install koreader
Lurk more, newfag. Also what the fuck is religious studies? How old are you?
kek
Quality reading though.
kindles are only 85 bucks right now if you can put up with the ads
Yeah bro! Let's all get e-readers bro!
Wait... you guys aren't just memeing? You actually own e-readers? Oh no no no no.. AAHAHAHAHAHA
>if you can put up with the ads
I contacted Amazon support and said I didn't like the ads and the Pajeet removed them from my device
Agreed. The longest I've had a kindle without it breaking then exploding (killing the cat, once)
was 32 minutes.
I'm currently on my 406th device and now order them 12 at a time.
Using a Kobo Clara HD right now, got everything I need and it's not that pricy either.
What shitty e-reader are you using?
Kindle has a superior dictionary
>Also what the fuck is religious studies?
It is basically the secular version of Theology.
>How old are you?
22 FBI-sama.
pls no bully like funabori, tank u
OP's using an JD Reader. I think he's from /csg/ IMO.
>Reader.
I mean, Read.
The name of the Bernhard novel is Alte Meister, I got hipped onto it here at Yea Forums by someone posting an excerpt of it, in which Heidegger, whom I had been ambivalent about, gets absolutely, utterly BTFO. After researching the novel and discovering it is about a fictitious music historian sharing a surname with famous classical composer Max Reger, I was sold. Here is the excerpt: kinkatso.blogspot.com
I'm using a kobo, I thought they had a good reputation. It's probably the file, as the other poster has suggested. It reads only epub, so I can't circumvent the error by converting the format.
you read it while hiking or just find a comfy spot to read it at?
its both something to do while taking resting breaks (other than writing and just daydreaming) and before-bed reading after you snuggle into your tent.
imagine being this cucked lmao
>if you can put up with the ads
what?
Unironically buy an ipad. I use a 1st gen iPad and most pirate sites have ePubs which are better than pdfs. Also a tablet is good for other shit too.
I don't get it. PDF would work better on an iPad and EPUB would work better on a e-ink device.
Since we're on the subject of e-readers.
Why the fuck is the Amazon Paperwhite $85 and the Oasis $250?
Why are they so expensive?
Is it anywhere near worth that?
for me it's the $35 kobo touch 905 i bought from ebay. works a lot better than i expected, great for sideloading and works with GNU/Linux. Haven't paid for a book once!
>if you can put up with the ads
Honestly amazon are retarded. Even though they are basically selling their device at a discount for the right to put ads in the lockscreen, everyone sees it as they are paying for the full device and still getting ads. There are so many better ways to do this.
Got the same Kobo, I'm pretty clumsy and I have dropped it a lot of times since I bought it and it's still going strong, cannot say the same about the cheap "leather" case that I pair it with as it cracked after the 9th drop.
Did you have any problems with the battery like 4 months ago? Mine displayed the battery percentage as 1% even though it worked fine, one software update solved the issue tho.
