It's a terrible book. Read "Dubliners" if you're going to read Joyce at all.

Yea Forums is all to happy to hate on this book now that they've drunk the traditionalist koolaid of thinkers like Guenon and Evola, but the truth is it just gives them an easy excuse not to read it. The old Yea Forums wouldn't use such a lazy cop-out of "moral degeneracy", because the old Yea Forums is fully aware of its own position as part off an equally degenerate board. I dropped it at 200-something pages because I couldn’t understand half the references that Joyce kept throwing over my head. The prose was amazing, though. That first chapter was something else.

it digs on masons and jews and other sensitive political stuff so I'm assuming that's where most of the hate comes from. i'm having a lot of fun with it.
