Are there any dystopian novels in a similar vein to 1984 (or not), but with the defining factor being people brainwashed by consumerism and/or advertising?

Super Sad True Love Story

Brave new world?

Fahrenheit 451

>iphone 11
What can it do that my old duct-taped phone can't?

Brave New World

Take bigger pictures for Snapchat, Instagram, whatever.

You dare question the divine dynamics of market capitalism? You don't get to tell me that Apple has sold the same phone in 10 different ways during all those years.

Haven't read it in 30 years, but yesterday I thought of the ad for Denham's Dandy Dental Dentifrice on the train video screen, and Mildred with her nose to the wall TV that moment when the bomb slams it into her. Be prepared to duck and cover if the power goes out when there's no obviously severe weather marching across these fruited plains.

Reality

I believe the cyberpunk subgenre dwells into those themes. At least their settings seem to be dominated by corporations and hyper-consumerism

Cyberpunk absolutely fails to capture the sheer pathetic nature of it all. I've never seen or read anything that could be considered cyberpunk that didn't make it look cool and somewhat fun and exciting

Well, that seems to be your personal opinion because perhaps, cyberpunk looks more aesthetic and wild than our lame and ugly world. The truth is we are living in the first stages of a cyberpunk world without those aesthetics.
Here's a couple of articles that expand more on that:

They are still relevant as lazy poster indicators

This sounds close to what OP wants. In the BurgerPunk vein some of the thread is going, maybe also read "Sea Oak" by George Saunders:

My roommate has bought a new phone every year for this exact reason.

Yea Forums never talks about this one. Probably the only good YA that I've seen.

Brave New World. How is there anyone on here who doesn’t know this?
Just kidding, you obviously just want a SOCIETY thread

Incorrect, not what OP specified. BNW is controlled by high quality of life and anti-sadness drugs. He's presumably looking for something more in the vein of They Live meets American Psycho.

Huxley was a prophet

>he hasn't read "The Protocols of the learned eldars of Zion"

Huxley was the brother of Julian, which was part of the Fabian Society, which openly discussed the political moves to shape human societies. Their goals where exactly what he wrote down as his best known work.

The more you know.

>George Orwell, (real name Eric Blair), was educated at Eton College, a well known Illuminati education center – it has produced 19 British Prime Ministers including David Cameron. While at Eton, Orwell was taught French by Aldous Huxley, it was here they became lifelong friends. Huxley, who was also the author of another interesting book, ‘Brave New World’, introduced Orwell to the Fabian society.

>The Fabian society is a secret society at its core, although anyone can join, like all of these societies there are many levels of initiation (such as with the Freemasons), meaning the majority of people involved in the organisation have no idea of the true agenda and carry out their roles creating a front for the fraud at the heart of the organisation. The Fabian Society has been instrumental in the global fascist agenda. It was the force behind the creation of the Labour Party in Britain but operates both officially and unofficially across the globe as I will detail elsewhere.

>The name Fabian is said to come from ‘Fabius’, the Roman general, Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus. Fabius employed carefully planned strategies to wear down his enemies over a long period of time avoiding battles that could prove decisive either way. And of course this is exactly how the global agenda has been planned out. What is more, the Fabian society has a wolf in sheep clothing for its logo (right), how appropriate, and its motto is “Remould it nearer to the heart’s desire”, also appropriate.

>The significance in the title of Orwell’s book is the fact that 1984 is the centenary year of the Fabian society, perhaps just another tidy coincidence but it is speculated that he became disillusioned with the society and 1984 was written not as fiction but an expose of the knowledge of the Fabian agenda. And that would then explain why the Fabian Society reportedly controls the copyright of ‘1984’ until at least 2025, they control the rights to his estate and they own and have sealed Orwell’s archives.

Are you stupid? Cyberpunk, even with its grim theme, also basks at the light, the noise, the rush and the puffing smoke. It's basically retrofuture porn. I'd like to read a book in a cyberpunk setting that captures the pathetic feeling of staying in line for days in order to get a phone/sneaker/game or whatever.

Sound like the Sovjet Union desu.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Who the fuck says degozaru instead of de gozaimasu

Check out Homo Zapiens. Not quite what you may be looking for, but I think you'd enjoy it. It's a science fiction scenario about people who seize the opportunity to write ads to sell to Russians after communism falls.

is there a collection of images like this, the amazon slave robot, the wage cage, the fake pinker tweet, the mcdonalds marketing conference, etc.?

Pathetic. You people call everything a conspiracy till it get's proven, just to memory hole it afterwrds. Break up from the idea that "Illuminati" and "Masons" are some ayy lmao organisations and just consider them secret societies like Bone & Skull, which collect people in power positions to use for their orgas benefits and you see elite ingroups being evolutionary norms.

But nah, brainlets like you just fall for the X files meme, which is easy disinfo.

People call me a boomer all the time, but i seriously loathe it when people just walk around looking at their phone constantly. Even worse at the gym where people are constantly taking selfies of their "omg 200 lbs bench press #swole" while hoarding the fucking equipment.
Fuck phones. I only ever used mine to call an ambulance for my mom anyway.
