I took heavy inspiration from one of my favorite novels for the opening (literally copied and pasted then changed characters, locations, etc) and now I'm in the process of converting that prose into poetic form.

Lowest average I've ever seen on Goodreads. It's a nice cover though and I like the title.
As for my novel, I have a bunch of chunks written but can't connect them, and I worry that it's so bad that it's completely unsalvageable, like even a complete rewrite wouldn't save it, it just needs to be thrown into a dumpster fire.

So far I'm one year into worldbuilding and writing up the manuscript. Coming along nicely.

She started the novel when she was 16. Instead of doing the rational thing and throwing that trash out, she self-published. It reads like a 16 year old's scribbles because it is.

How do I into "scene composition" bros?
Like I have a list of events that happen in the novel and a list of character traits for each character but I can't seem to put these together into a scene unless I'm straight up copying from some source.

I wouldn't try to. Write for however long you're comfortable with and able to. Don't push yourself or it'll show in your writing. Write, take a break, and get back to it again when you've recovered.

I usually write LNs, although my artist has just charged herself out of my range, so I guess I'm going to be learning to art in the very near future, too.

On the third one atm. Nearly halfway through it. Need to have it ready by mid-November. The writing, I'm not too worried about. The artwork, I am.

I want to write, but while I used to read quite a lot from elementary to highschool, my engineering degree sapped me of all will to read after being buried in mathematics and physics literature. As consequence, I feel I don't have a proper grasp on prose anymore. Where does one use ";"? How do you write dialogue? Do I put a dot at the end like

I can get an answer to these specific questions rather easily of course, but I'm just exemplifying my issues. I've been trying to get back into reading but other bullshit always ends up in the way so progress is slow.

I can kinda draw anyway, just the digital side of things isn't great. And I'd have liked to have kept the same artist throughout. They're not terribly important - I do them up as Christmas gifts - but I'd have liked them to look the same so if I do decide to try self-publishing or anything, I have them looking the same.
