almost all those european arthouse directors are garbage only liked by pseuds

The GOAT:
>Stanley Kubrick

Emma Assisi is my favorite film director

do you only read stephen king and james patterson books?

he's fine

...

yo nigga FUCK the coen brothers

where is Jodorowsky?

literally the only good burger filmmakers currently working

>if it's popular it's bad
the absolute state of you Yea Forums tier hipsters

yang gang

Attached: Yi-Yi-750x400.png (750x400, 432K)

>>aronofsky
He's litteraly the demonstration of the failure of capitalism and of the big demo-plutocracies. He should be mowing lawns for 10 dollars/ hour BUT since APPARENTLY there's a market for his bullshit he's a milionaire.

obviously in the third meme trilogy

>good
no

what's with yang making 2 hours of the best movie you've ever seen and then having the worst last five minutes imaginable? true of yiyi and summer

you can be a bullshit artist if you are one of (((them)))

Yi Yi's ending was fine, I don't know what you're talking about.

blood simple, miller's crossing, no country for old men, inside llewlyn davies, are all certified indisputable kino.

How do I into cinema

don't go to film school, go to films

Yeah, retard. What films? Does Yea Forums have a chart or some shit.

i dont remember that well, but doesnt some kid die or kill someone out of nowhere

cute list

yikes

>muh chart
>chart chart shart chart
what is it with you underage zoomer brainlets and charts? are they shiny? do they make you feel like and intellectual when you save them to your phone and never look at them again? please tell me because I'M DYING to know.

>no Kurosawa
pleb list

I miss him bros

A list then, fucking hell mate, don't shit yourself. I want to get into film but I don't know where to start. I've watched all of the classics like goodfellas godfather etc

Besides 10 commandments, very overrated

retard

the meme trilogy

disagree. red was kino.

check out this really good movie called birdman

White was horrible though

Muh samurai

You must be Julie

where is nolan?

>can't even appreciate jap kino
never gunna make it

The ultimate pleb filter: Miike Takashi

fucking spoilers faggot kys use the tag

Ozu is lit

Yeah, the daughter's love interest kills the English teacher who was fucking her friend next door. It does come out of nowhere, but it fits the tone of the movie and the theme of life being a balance between unpredictable good and bad events.

>besides those 10

what about nolan?

great thread guys

anyone know some foreign or less well known/deep-cut thrillers/political thrillers?

he brit

his dad was american but he's essentially english

>No Bergman
Either edit your post or fuck your own sick

Interestingly enough, his brother seems more american, with accent and all. Chris did do college in London and Jonathan in the states, so that's probably a factor too

bergson=bergman

do you know dan eldon

>bergson
Did you mean Bergman, you fucking poseur? Admit it, you googled most of those names, and are familiar with most of the rest by reputation only. You don't know why you'd put each director in each tier, it's completely arbitrary, you ignorant little piggy, you pseud.

OH I GET IT!

No Kubrick, Bergman, Ford or Lang

You are a tricky one you are

im reading bergson and typed his name. the rest of your post doesnt follow. kys

>bergson=bergman
what did he mean by this?

I'm actually pissed that Bergman isn't on this list. He's my favorite director. Fucking love Persona and Cries and Whispers. IMO He's the most Yea Forums director. Also, Jean-Luc Godard might be Yea Forums. I like Viva Sa Vie from him.

bergman is in the OG meme trilogy. i typed bergson by accident

Okay, fine, I forgive you.

Bergman is so based though, bros. Winter Light really made me start appreciating film. Fuck, I miss him now

Never seen a Bresson flick. Which should I start with?

pickpocket or man escaped

Believe me, fag, I'm considering it just so I don't have to hear any more of your pitiable excuses.

you can make all these silly lists but we all know who the greastest one is

griffith?

which is your fav?

L'argent, but i'd start with man escaped and if you like that pickpocket

pic related is about the true /litv/ meme trilogy

Attached: schrader.jpg (215x329, 21K)

schrader seems like a bit of a hack with the superficial bresson imitations

based thanks friend

here's a rec from me: watch bergman fanny och alexander, the whole tv series. it's magical.

As a director, yeah. Mishima is still great, though. The book is still an insightful bit of film theory.

only ever watched the (shorter) movie version, but thought it was fantastic and always meant to watch the whole show. will do so soon. have you ever watched scenes of a marriage?
