Maybe if you were a politics-obsessed burgefag.

I was born in 95 but have a good memory where my childhood’s concerned. By my recollection this is pretty accurate.

I was born in 2001, a couple days before the terrorist attack, and I just turned 18 a couple weeks ago. All I remember is watching spongebob, playing Minecraft on an Xbox 360, playing black ops 1 zombies and getting into Yea Forums and World of Warcraft at around 13.

you're a zoomer, retard

if you're not an American this probably wouldn't be your experience

but yes, OP, this was the 2000s if you were too young to remember

im born january 93 and remember country invaded by american troops. im much better now living in franch land as refugee :D

my family lived pretty isolated in Lehigh Acres Florida so that meant home school so i didn't really associate with other kids unless we went to a park or vacation plus TV was not allowed in our house so my childhood activities were swimming in our backyard pool biking reading and drawing. it was a great childhood though sometimes id long to have a gaming console or watch a kids show i would see at Costco or heard from other kids talking.

Poor you, you still have to go back.

Not a burger so it doesn't deeply resound, but it can't be stressed how much people really did support the war. Anti-war types were much more marginal

i will stay here and marry a franch girl :D

Yes, that is a spot on analysis. The mid-2000s were a cesspool. It was as if everything that had been good about the 90s turned into this cynical, absurd dystopia. 9/11 marks the turning point for a lot of people, and I think that’s fairly accurate.

not if you're dragged through the streets and burned first :D

I was born in 89, we've been fucking with the middle east to (((help))) the people there since the 70s. We are recovering from a century long temperance revolution that started then backlashed in the early twentieth century. It's been shit enough to make hippies, commies, and the mafia. Now what is it doing? (((It))), capitalism, is failing. Bush went to war to steal the oil because the US has an oligarchy and it uses too much oil from itself. The land owning of oil fields is all about status quo. Same with all the banning of things. How can you be allowed to do drugs when we have super heavy and fast cars everywhere that require you to work 50 hous per week when humans are designed fro twenty? It all ties together. Now with it's incarceration poulations being literally the highest of all nations we can't change fast. Momentum.

Growing up in the early 2000’s was being a Teen girl who just got off watching Foamy the squirrel on NewGrounds.com com while signing a bring back Invader Zim petition wearing a Jack Skeleton Hoodie And Happy Tree Friends tube socks Purchased from Hot Topic During an Emily the Strange buy 1 get 1 50 percent off sale Where she discovered Serenity Rose from Slave Labor graphics Comics While her over baring but loving father restricts her from going to the My Chemical Romance slash Limp Bizkit concert With a 5 years older than her boyfriend That constantly IM’s unsourced Stolen Pom And Zi comic art Over 56K Modem American Online trial discs On myspace dot com with a top 8 consisting of Tim Burton, Jack Sparrow, Eminem, Jesus Christ and whatever angsty band is the hit new thing in Disney Adventures Magazine And spends all day filling out What Kingdom Hearts Character are you quizzes Only to complain she didn’t get Rikku and Is unable to watch the 2003 MTV Music Awards Because her dead beat older brother is always Hogging the living room TV Playing Tony Hawks Underground on his Halo edition Transparent green Xbox Using a 3rd party Mad Kats air flow controller With a busted analog stick constantly learning to the right Making antisemitic remarks on how Eric stole his wicked Mctwist over the helicopter in Hawaii footage

I unironically agree with this and anyone who says Trump is in anyway different from the more "respectable" Republicans should be punched in the face until their skulls breaks.

Even Bush I invaded fucking Panama.

Superior post

As someone who was born in '88, I doubt the authenticity of his post. That all sounds like hindsight, and no teenager had a firm grasp on political situation in Iraq, much less on American foreign policy. Anyway, the Bush Jr. presidency encompassed all of my middle school and high school years. All of us were on board with the war in Afghanistan. We all had different opinions on the Iraq war, but all of our politics were what we were told by our parents. But it wasn't a divisive issue, and all we really did was talk about sports, vidya, and tv. You had celebrities coming out of the woodwork airing their worthless Hollywood liberal elite opinions and drones eating it up, which still goes on today. You had liberals and pundits making fun of Bush and calling him a retard on a regular basis, which was pretty tame compared to what they say about Trump today, despite the fact that Bush got away with a whole lot more shit the he did.

13818944
>>I'm a GIRL by the way
(You) revoked.

Most impressive.

You mean worthless liberal elite opinions like going to war with Iraq was a terrible decision that would lead to the death of one million people? Conservatives really never do learn; it's fascinating as a train wreck on loop.

The loss of trust in the elites didn't really come from the Iraq War. Social media and globalization shifted public opinion into loathing the elites more than anything I think. America has largely forgotten about Iraq, liberals are now outright ambivalent towards Bush, and Trump is viewed as a genocidal fascist by half the country. The hate towards Trump just outweighs the hate towards Bush, I don't think everyone universally hates him even back then

Was in my late teens and 20s through the 2000s. The stuff on the Iraq war is off (the costs are vastly overstated (the war ultimately cost something like $750 billion, not 'trillions and trillions and trillions'), as are what could have been done with that money if the war hadn't happened (no, we could not have paved streets with gold or paid for universal healthcare or university or etc).

The cultural stuff in the 2nd paragraph is roughly correct. I'd add on the popularity of girls gone wild in the first half of the decade that served as a segue to porn becoming easily available on the internet.

On the other hand, early 2000s internet was by far the best internet, and technology in the early 2000s was constantly mindblowing and not just the boring repeats of last year's ideas today that we have now.

That is EXTREMELY accurate. Go look up Tim Kreider's "The Pain -- When Will It End?" It's a webcomic from those days. Or another webcomic if you can find it: "get your war on"

Also the 2003-2005 years were when the limousine upskirt came into the public consciousness. Not just Paris Hilton. Even the Bush daughters Jenna and what's-her-face got snapped.

>Unironically defending upper class champagne socialists who have nothing but contempt for middle America and the white working class
Spoken like a coastal city dweller who thinks Trevor Noah, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Jon Oliver, and Jimmy Fallon are grade A high culture entertainment.

You also had people watching Chappelle Show make them a lot more racially conscious.

You're an ugly inbred semitic shitskin. Not happening.

checked. ignore the baiters and keep living your best life, refugeefag

Born in 1993. This is all understated if anything.

yes

>That all sounds like hindsight, and no teenager had a firm grasp on political situation in Iraq, much less on American foreign policy. Anyway, the Bush Jr. presidency encompassed all of my middle school and high school years. All of us were on board with the war in Afghanistan.

Yes it's accurate. Any zoomer who thinks Trump is a terrible president is a complete idiot. Compared to George W he's incredible.

I kind of stopped paying attention to American politics, has Trump actually accomplished anything? like deporting illegals in any substantial numbers or his wall or bringing back blue collar jobs?

This definitely speaks to a certain demographic of American young adults.

I have coworkers who are in their late 20's and early 30's and all of the left leaning ones express these kinds of sentiments. If you were in late in high school or just got out when the towers fell this is much more accurate than it is for me. I was only in 2nd grade during 9/11.

Trump got some things done during the first 2 years. Congress shifted over to the democrats so republicans only control the senate.

Hard to pass any conservative agenda with dems controlling half the legislative body.

Honestly it's surprising he didn't do more after he got elected. Republicans controlled the executive and legislative branch, and were appointing conservative judges to the judiciary.

All I can think of is his shitty tax plan. Besides that he hasn't done anything domestically that Obama wasn't already doing (mass deportations)

His foreign policy has been much greater which is ironic because he ran on an isolationist, America first, agenda.

Wall is being built. Claiming asylum at the southern border is banned unless you've tried in one of the countries you've passed through. I don't really have numbers regarding jobs but anecdotally I was out of work for some time and was able to get a manufacturing job some time after Trump was elected.

after watching him for a while do you think he has some sort of plan or is he just kind of a clown?

>Honestly it's surprising he didn't do more after he got elected. Republicans controlled the executive and legislative branch
The Republicans did not support Trump and were opposed to his policies. Anything he tries to do on his own takes forever as some lower court judge will block it and it has to go to the Supreme Court.

He has successfully not gotten America into another war, so he's doing fine.

>the president mattering

Idiotic. Only extreme normalfaggots are supposed to be that stupid.

That time period only signifies the spread of an all seeing eye and a mind game to make you want to be watched. If half of them fall for it, then the rest must fall in it's line of sight. It's why everyone has a cell phone yet hardly uses them for anything but to be tracked so they can't get away with too much. In the 90s the cells didn't literally watch you, much less track you. Cars did not either. A giant operation of espionage against it's own citizens, things like five eyes are.

Abhorrent it all is, but didn't even begin there. In the 90s cameras were going up to monitor oil usage at convenient stores. Your masters. They were already watching you. Recording every phone conversation since the 70s too. The only thing that changed is stupid citizens actually wanting to be watched when before it was legally corruption of power. You should need a phone tap, not spy on everyone. Absolute omniscience with soldier funding being 10 trillion dollars per year equals absolute power and that corrupts absolutely, hence privacy laws no longer existing.

Abhorrent. Even if all the towers fell I'd still not trade freedom for safety and only a fool would. How can you be safe if you've no power? Espionage is bad. Spies used to be killed for their honorless deeds. Gorilla war tactics were also back in the day considered illegal. Yet the USA attacks if the Geneva convention is disobeyed. Convoluted. Devoid of ethics. It's all madness because people are stupid enough to be driven insane when they have no real problems. 2k people dying does not effect you. Them shutting down airports should have caused rebellion not cowardly begging to be protected when the pentagon, the white house, etc, still stand. They aren't trying to protect you. They want to watch you so you won't get them. That's all that bullshit in nutshell.

Giant. Abhorrent. Mind game.

Attached: osaka.jpg (474x343, 22K)

I don't think he has a plan. He might be able to pull some shit off if he gets elected again. if the democrats run a centrist-left candidate, the economy hasn't collapsed, and the trade war gets sorted out I think he will win again, the thing he is doing that will carry the greatest weight in the future will be his supreme court appointments and lower court appointments. Pretty much true of all modern (1990-present) presidents
The American judiciary system is getting more and more politicized.

That's just a failure of him not playing ball with establishment republicans because he's sundowning. If any other republican were elected potus with the majority he had in 2016 a lot more would have changed. Taxes, regulations, privatization, Venezuela, etc.

You need to be 18 to post here.

A bit over-dramatic. Liberals as usual were over-reacting (like in that post), but I never really thought that 9/11 was the ROOT of all of the coming dysfunction.

The 00's still had some organic American culture. There was still a good underground music scene in America and people still had normal face-to-face relationships in various social institutions. Obviously 9/11 was somewhat of a psy-op, and it eventually led to the mistrust of the government and the mistrust of the state's true intentions.

Besides that though, the groundwork for the next level of degeneracy was laid. New World Order conspiracy theories started circulating about what they were really planning on doing and what was really going on.

But yeah most people in the 00's still didn't care about politics and didn't really pay attention

Someone screencap this

is pasta.

Wasn't that New World Order conspiracy crap already around in the 90s?

What would Bush be like if he was president now?

>>cage is being built
A country with the literal highest incarceration rates should not want a fucking wall at the south, the only escape is S. America when shit hits the fan. England won't let you hide in the North. It's part of the all seeing eye.

Minorities are not our problem. How can an immigrant country have an immigrant problem with a country this large?

This faggot just wants to hate the America of his adolescence really badly. I don't blame him t b h

the first paragraph is correct if angsty and overdramatized, the second paragraph tho

>McMansions
anyone I've ever heard use this word unironically has been the biggest soichugging faggot who can't understand why somebody would want to own their own house.
>H2 Hummer SUVs
Okay these are actually pretty bad SUVs
>e-trash like mobile DVD players that was even below iShit
You can tell this fag has no appreciation for technology, at least those DVD players were manufactured before peak planned obsolescence, at least you knew you were getting shit back then and electronics back then were still MODULAR, I have so many electronics even chinky chinesium ones from that era that still work whereas I own nearly nothing working from the early 10's. This was also before everything became digital download fag shit.
>edgy kid culture becomes edgier, more degenerate
I do agree that this was a bad thing
>A lot of divorced moms driving expensive trash like an early 2000s Cadillac Escalade
If talking about the Denali-based GMT 400 escalade I can understand this, however the GMT 800 platform introduced in 2002 was in fact a very good platform and responsible for the Escalade's success, so good that the modern GMT K2XL is still extremely similar. Also you can tell this fag likely has an irrational hatred for proper American body on frame SUVs, which is fine if ecofag but I'd argue the much more widespread similar circumstances CUV obsession of today's women is much worse for multiple reasons
>constant ads for home-loans and loan refinancing from companies like "DiTech"
This was an annoying symptom of the economic times but his anger is misdirected, by focusing on this kind of thing you can tell he just wants to get mad at some boomers, not the jews responsible for the situation

cringe/10, would overdramatize again

>an immigrant country
This is a neo-liberal myth. The founding fathers intended America to be a Christian European nation and that was reflected in the first immigration policy. The nation of America is Anglo-Saxon protestant in nature and any European that migrated here was expected to assimilate into that.

>A country this large
It's not about the empty space, it's about the resources and infrastructure. We already have too many people in this nation with collapsing infrastructure and an entire suffering underclass. Immigration also keeps wages lowered so corporations are in favor of it.

On top of that, do we really want to become an over-developed deforested cesspit like Asia or parts of China? We've been blessed with beautiful wide open nature to be enjoyed. no reason to develop that to make way for 3rd worlders who have no intention of assimilating.

>Minorities are not our problem
3rd world immigrants are 20 points lower in IQ than European Americans. They do not assimilate, they raise the crime rate, and are just here to vote themselves free things. They have no connection to the nation and usually resent the founders and the culture of America. One reason politics has become increasingly corrupt is because of 3rd world voters, just as they vote corrupt politicians into office in their nations as well.

>3rd world immigrants are 20 points lower in IQ than European Americans

Do you know the IQ of an Irish immigrant from the 1900s?

i can confirm.
The bush years were peak burgerpunk.
Youd watch the news and theyd have terror level alerts to scare people and claim saddam hussein had biological weapons to scare people into going to the iraq war.
Then what followed was the obama years which were years of complete stagnation.
us millenials got fucked hard.

>being OK with mcmansions
useless cunt

Did you see them burning flags, shitting on the people who live here, voting in Anti-American politicians, and demanding reparations for colonization?

Did you know the Iraq War cost between 3 and 6 trillion? What do you think could've been done with that money?

Obviously I have a problem with McMansion build quality and the contractors who work on them, but if you literally hate McMansions for existing you're just hopelessly retarded.

>Did you know the Iraq War cost between 3 and 6 trillion? What do you think could've been done with that money?

What's your point? The war was a mistake and now we have tens of millions of people in this country who hate the people who built it and want to replace it with their own shitty 3rd world culture

Why don't you look at your own sins instead of other peoples? I guess you are not Christian. Are you trying to replace America's Christian culture with your own?

>immigrant country
*settler country

Settler? That's an odd way to describe the genocide of 100m Natives

>why don't you just let you and your children be colonized by hordes of immigrants who hate you in a nation and city your ancestors built with their bare hands
Why don't immigrants stop coming here and shitting on the people who built the nation? Why don't they just look at their own sins? Why can't they just assimilate? Oh right, because they're filled with hatred

>I guess you are not a Christian
The Bible says mass immigration is a curse

>muh genocide
Neo-liberal myth to justify bringing in cheap 3rd world labor

Thomas?

Isn't this cute. A zoomer trying to retrace his steps. Let me tell you as a millenial you don't how much better we have it in terms of our introduction to the political world. I don't envy you guys at all.

The difference between Bush and Trump is enough to go on. It's amusing how the animus against Bush has dissipated and an even liberal nostalgia for the order he represented taken his place. Back then the government lied to you in a much more scripted, almost ceremonious fashion. Nowadays the government lies to you every minute of every second in the most theatrical and absurd ways. It's almost impossible to not see this behavior in the government as a form of hidden or implicit self-negation, a way of showing that it is lying by lying, or , to put it another way, "tipping the boat overboard."

And this is not just an American thing. You see it in Europe as well. It happens everyday in Africa and nobody reports on it. In Asia, the political constellation is more stable on the surface, but its rare flashpoints --Hong Kong-- are all the more intense and punctuated.

What I'm saying is liberals would happily suck a conveyor belt of dicks to have Trump be replaced by someone like Bush. It's not these faces or what they did that matter; or even what they stand for, it's the general chaotic change in the integrity of the information signal politics once presumably represent.

You realize you are ignoring what's in the Bible and cherrypicking it for your own ideology right? I asked why do you juge others sins instead of your own and you tried to skip past by repeating the same mistake.

So the point still stands. And you aren't Christian. So why do you want to replace American culture with your own? Do you hate America?

>minute of every second

Attached: images.png (212x238, 5K)

>I asked why do you juge others sins instead of your own and you tried to skip past by repeating the same mistake.
That's not even in The Bible you drooling braindead faggot. The bible says to remove the plank from the plank from your own eye before judging the splinter in your neighbor's eye. Stop lying and pretending you've read the book or know anything about Christianity

Last time I checked, I'm not moving Mexico, robbing their resources, shitting on them as a people, shitting on their history, burning their flag, voting in politicians who hate them to rule over them, and calling them racist if they even respond.

You have to actually read the bible to use it against Christians, give up

so the only thing you actually disagree with him on is mcmansions and autistic car details?

And checked

>drooling braindead faggot.
Was this part in the Bible too?

>The bible says to remove the plank from the plank from your own eye before judging the splinter in your neighbor's eye

Do you not know about John 8:1-11? There's numerous mentions of not judging others for their sins in the Bible.

You might have the most valid political points, and I might even agree with some of them, but the fact you are proclaiming yourself to be Christian is utterly laughable. Also, what you said about IQ is a meme and you never bothered to respond to it.

I hoped it wasn't true, but dubs dont lie

bro i hate it so much.
it's the spectacle run rampant. pure automation, the procession of neoliberal capital under the guise of liberation, equality, whatever hypocritical bullshit is meant to vehemently protest in favour of mindless baseness, living like animals

Attached: l.jpg (1000x1569, 197K)

Nice blind wasted youth, you are exactly what the system wants you to be.

>Was this part in the Bible too?
Yes read Leviticus and Romans

>There's numerous mentions of not judging others for their sins in the bible
Psalm 139:21
"Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? 22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies."

How does mass migration apply to John 8:1-11? Do we have a person on trial for a petty crime by a Christian court? The Biblical explanation for what is happening is that God has cursed America for it's sin, which is what I believe.

Mass migration will stop when Americans return to God

America was founded on Old-Testamentarian fucking beliefs, you retard. Puritans, the founding stock of America, literally saw themselves as Jews creating a holy land. So genociding some Natives falls right in line with that and focusing more on the thunder and fury of the Old not the New Testament, so you can shove John's quotes right up your ass.

I don't think Jesus would go on Yea Forums to call someone a drooling braindead faggot. He might lightly call someone a 'fool' but that is not the same...

Because you are Jewish. That's what your people believe in.

And you're a shitskin trying to parasitize off my country, just like the kike.

I'm not American fortunately. You are a kike though.

How so? You are far more like a kike in your implicit defense of the hordes of shitskins infesting my country.

>I don't think Jesus would go on Yea Forums to call someone a drooling braindead faggot.
Why not? Read the bible you braindead faggot

When you're right, you're right, and the few of them that spoke up were right about the Iraq boondoggle. But as usual, Americans were brainwashed.

He does suck ass, but on foreign policy he's a big improvement for the mere fact we haven't gotten involved in a new war yet and it looks like he's completely opposed to the idea now (the sacking of Bolton). Cross my fingers

No legislative wins outside of a bit of criminal justice reform, which is nice. Other than that he blew his load on another tax cut, so in terms of what history will judge him on -- legislation and foreign policy -- he's got nothing on the first, but is doing pretty well on the second, so long as he keeps exercising restraint and keeping us out of conflicts. Alienating our allies isn't good though, there is that.

Look up the dancing Israelis

>You mean worthless liberal elite opinions like going to war with Iraq was a terrible decision that would lead to the death of one million people? Conservatives really never do learn; it's fascinating as a train wreck on loop.
Trump literally campaigned on iraq being a mistake and the entire right-wing voting base is non-interventionalist now

Coastal elites live under a rock, I know because I live in this AIDs ridden shithole

Dont go shooting up any walmarts over it, big guy.

UUUU

Seethe.

There was definitely a shift in attitudes after 9/11. The best place to look I think would be in music. There was a demonstrable change in tone in the early 2000s. You can hear it. Music went from being edgy but not cynical to having a sort of angry, very cynical lean to it.

I was born in Europe in 1998 but I can distinctly remember the day the news talked about the Twin Towers attack. It impressed me so much that I started reenacting the scene using lego towers and toy planes. So, am I a millenial or a zoomer?

That sounds like what you're doing, m8.

The guy you replied to is delusional. Incels were still incels even back then, it's just that they didn't have an opportunity to scream into a void about it on the internet.

I bet you also think the "free love" of the hippies included non-Chads.

You are the shitskin

96-99 is the transition period, the lost generation, can't relate fully to millennial or zoomers so they lack identity.

I was born in 97. I really want to just not live tbhwyfam

What about 95?

>despite the fact that Bush got away with a whole lot more shit the he did
I wonder how much of that is due to the fact Bush was obviously a tool who didn't even understand he was being used.

>Did you see them burning flags, shitting on the people who live here, voting in Anti-American politicians
Serious question: how many immigrants did you see doing that? Railing against immigrants voting for corrupt politicians is hilarious when you look at the overall quality of presidential candidates in the US. Where are those non-corrupt quality politicians they should be voting for? Cause I don't see many of them on either side.

>demanding reparations for colonization?
That's something blacks Americans do, they're not voluntary immigrants and have been on US soil before they was officially a US.

Also, Irish immigrants (along with Italian and Jewish immigrants) literally created the American mafia.
Not that old patrician WASP families are much better in terms of honesty, humility or respect for the laws and the human person.

> in a nation and city your ancestors built with their bare hands
Kek. If you live in an old city the "bare hands" who built them were at least 50% those of blacks slaves, with perhaps a heavy sprinkling of Chinese workers too. If you live in a new city it was probably built by spics.

I can agree with your sentiment but you should now Tiqqun are a bunch of sanctimonious faggot no matter how well they write.
Using hebrew terminology to hide the fact that you've basically rationalized your refusal to engage with the world is a pretty shameless cultural appropriation (much as I hate the term) of the judaic culture of ethical reasoning.

>neo-liberal
Keep posting it faggot.

Anyway, the forefathers betrayed the Pope for the sake of being rebellious. No one cared. Brothels, slaves, Native genocide, etc. They just fucked shit up and didn't care. Religion didn't matter. Virtues are more present now than ever before and you're suffering BECAUSE of it. The virtues should have stayed in their conservative desert realm.

i definitely take that book with a grain of salt - it's way too hyperbolic and sheathed in irony to be taken as a serious work of philosophy.
you don't have to be jewish to be a good and intelligent person, user. i like what they say about the young-girl as neoliberal precarity incarnate - they have a point. it's just kind of a misogynistic work.
in my mind, it's all so much more simple than that. human beings are animals, capitalism is an expression of this base animality. young girls want to reproduce. that's it.
so there's a religious element to it, you're correct. is the religion judaic ethics (which honestly advocate "oppressing" women, btw), marxism (which is a religion)? who's to say.
but on the other hand this is why nietzsche was suspected to be homosexual. in this culture, we are to be narcissistic faggots to get laid.
wait did i already say my point, that there is no world? i mean it

yeah 95 can be included.

;_;

You are a sound asleep peasant, you mean...

I'm a little older than this. I do remember the culture taking a nosedive in that era.
Sometimes I do think about how 9/11 was the beginning of the end of the American empire. The American Manzikert. Sure, the Sexual Revolution and all the hippie shit has been going for decades, but things accelerated at that point.

The American Republicans of that era were awful. Bush II was voted in by social conservatives. And he used all his political capital to give tax cuts to companies who would later undermine the positions of his voters and in an idiotic war to spread liberalism in the Middle East.

Pretty sure the wars were mostly paid for with fake money/ debt.

So nothing was wasted but promises

Does this make the 2008 Crisis the 4th Crusade?

We haven't reached that point yet.

>Sometimes I do think about how 9/11 was the beginning of the end of the American empire. The American Manzikert. Sure, the Sexual Revolution and all the hippie shit has been going for decades, but things accelerated at that point.
(not true, by the way)

In your opinion, "the pornofication of Western society" didn't increase in that era?

not really. i mean sure it found different way to manifest itself (digitally and so on) but there’s no ’increase’ to be spoken of. the ’70s was worse than the past three decades combined, if we’re talking ’degeneracy’

That was the era of "Sex and the City".
The way promiscuity was viewed changed a lot from the 90's to the 00's, from what I remember.

As what? millennial or zoomers?

This is some of the attitudes people had at the start of the 00's. Just a bunch of terrified yuppies, waiting for The Big Event to justify their inability to come to terms with why their life is such a void. A decade of misery.

>"Handmaid’s Tale is meant to reassure every wretched office-worker who goes home to a cat, a VCR, and Pizza-for-one that her life is noble and progressive. Handmaid’s Tale is fun horror-fiction for women who work in the American-style cubicle-world precisely because it’s so utterly unrelated to the miseries and terrors of their own lives. No one wants to force middle-class American women to have babies. In fact, it’s almost impossible for them to contemplate having kids, because they’re terrified that it might set them back in their careers, and their rivals in the adjacent cubicles would grab their parking spaces and health plans. Nobody wants to use their bodies. That’s precisely the horror with which they live: no one wants to mate with them because in their world, every single striver must fear every other, and the sort of joint action involved in mating and rearing one’s young is impossible—laughable, a thing which only those who have abandoned the hope of A Career can contemplate. So in their minds, mating and rearing children moves down in class, becoming a thing for rednecks and (though they’ll never say this part out loud) immigrants-of-color. The desire to have children gets bounced outside oneself, onto these lesser beings, and returns, courtesy of Atwood, in demonized form, as the tyranny of procreation, family values and the Patriarchy. It’s the horror they love to fear."

War was never about the oil or fighting terrorism. It was simply a vehicle to rob money from taxpayers and line the pockets of war profiteers. The second part was to strengthen our allies (Israel and Saudi Arabia) which is still what we are doing to this day. Israel doesn’t want Muslims growing powerful, Saudi Arabia wants to be the top dog and they give us the petrodollar in exchange

The 2nd paragraph is real, I was teleported back to 6th grade.

Fat stupid ladies driving new Ford Excursions; living in large KB Home neighborhoods; kids wearing $150 sneakers (T-Mac 2s were all the rage, mix and match the colors!); electronics, appliances and furniture of such low quality that they were pretty much disposable; a large amount of income spent on satellite TV, low functioning cellphones, DSL internet; and in South Texas you have all the white trash luxuries - football and baseball equipment for a kid who will outgrow it in a year, hunting gear, recreational vehicles like ATVs and boats, 4H/FFA - livestock, feed, land, trailers, stock show fees, etc.

Ahhhh, so that's why I'm a neet failure. Was worried that it was my fault for a second.

You're wrong. 92 here and we all had a grasp on politics. I was in Canada and anti-Americanism was through the roof. It actually settled down during Obama's years. Trump years are different too because the American left is much more vocal, with the addition of the SJW dynamics.

Privacy rights were a good thing you glow in the dark. The 90s being depressed is what happens when your own nation attacks it's citizens via surveillance and skyrocketing prison rates over mostly victimless crimes. This nation has only gotten worse since the 70s.

>As someone who was born in '88, I doubt the authenticity of his post. That all sounds like hindsight, and no teenager had a firm grasp on political situation in Iraq, much less on American foreign policy. Anyway, the Bush Jr. presidency encompassed all of my middle school and high school years.

Second (cultural) part:-- yes. First forgets Eisenhower's farewell speech, or Kennedy's "secret societies, and secret oaths";-- about that -- Trump was well acquainted with figures around Dealy Plaza's events, Sen. McCarthy (an old Kennedy clan confidant, along with Sec. of Navy Forester) and Gov. Connally. One of his first (tells?) missed expectations/opportunities was renewing the delay on the JFK files in their entirety early in office. If you saw the high strangeness surrounding the McCain and Bush Sr. funerals, you might have some notion of why.

"I don't think Trumplestiltskin would've been elected if Jon Stewart was still doing the Daily Show." c. 2016 Boomer. Imagine thinking it was sincere (or relevant) past the Bush Jr. first term.

In a pre-internet age, Bush Jr., his father's shenanigans (whether the JFK job, or the attempted Reagan one), and the two houses of Bush and Clinton being joined at the hip were all readily available through legacy media/traditional sources.

Iraq 2 Electric Boogaloo accomplished what was intended. Petraeus' "7 countries in 5 years" took a little longer. The US has been inundated with foreign agents for nigh exactly 100 years at this point.

it is extremely fucked that we can only describe our lives by what we consume

>nation of random immigrants
America is the product of hot Briton on Briton action, their pioneering of an immense wilderness, and nothing beside--

I was 17 on September 11, 2001 and had just started college. We all thought the world was going to end.

>REEE WHY DO KIDS DO KID THINGS!?

I don't know, I grew up in Buenos Aires. Although I remember my grandmother was anxious before the war, why would she? I never understood why she was like that over a foreigner country invading another foreign country in the other side of the planet.

Get a load of this numale. He tries to act like a redpilled badass but really he's just an autistic gizmo and gadget loving suburbanite. Not only does he appreciate automotives, which destroyed American tradition, he also appreciates the futureless sink on life that is tract housing.
You weekend aryan warrior, spiritual Boomer suburban faggot. The "soichugging" urbanites are better than you are. I hate you people so much. Stop using the Jewish boogieman to justify your bootlicking

The real red pill is realizing that society isn’t declining, it’s always been shit, and it’s better to care about what goes around in your personal life instead.

>Obviously 9/11 was somewhat of a psy-op, and it eventually led to the mistrust of the government and the mistrust of the state's true intentions.
That mistrust existed long before 9/11. It's been here probably since Vietnam.
Pic from mid-90s very much related.
