An economist and a journalist use econ methods to get goofs and laughs. They explore how Roe vs Wade prevented a future crime wave, how giving your kid a nigger name may impact his life, et cetera. It's fun, it sated my curiosity, but you won't learn anything useful from it if you haven't skipped your econ classes. Similar books: S. Venkatesh - Gang Leader for a Day, B.D. Caplan - The Case Against Education, and Superfreakonomics (never got around to reading it, but it has a chapter on prostitution)

Just got Messiah and Children of a couple days ago. Unfortunately, Amazon packaging is so amazing that Messiah was literally inside of Children of, so I just put a weight on it and after a few hours the wrinkles faded.

Can't wait to read Messiah, but I'm reading through SPQR first.
