Lovely list, OP you cannot go wrong with anything here.
Dekalog is Polish however, and Man Bites Dog is Belgian, but if we're including Belgium I'm gonna go ahead and say that nearly everything Chantal Ackerman directed is astounding, truly one of the greatest directors there ever was.
I'd also recommend Casque d'Or and L'Atalante

Anything by cocteau

the film's of Claire Denis

can you please go fuck yourself you fucking coward

New French extremity

Big man japan
Survive style 5+
Skinny tiger fatty dragon
Close encounters of the spooky kind
Boxers omen
Funny games
Festen
The shining

Lol. It’s one of the best films of the 00s. Haneke has an excellent filmography

Based and auteurpilled, I'd add anything by Jean Eustache, especially his masterpiece The Mommy and the Whore.

under the sun of satan

>Sembene
>Haneke
>Varda
>Demy
Cuh-ringe

Anyone have any Yea Forums pancake recipes?

pannekoekensoep

I suddenly have the urge to vomit.

What's the most Yea Forums way to vomit? I already know the finger in the ass part.

Someone said early Godard but late Godard is based. If it’s too out there for you, try his 80s films.
Pialat has a ton of great films

>no The Soft Skin
>no Touchez pas au grisbi
>no Le Jetee
P L E B I A N

>Dekalog

The Seventh Continent was pretty good too.

Yeah Godard has good stuff throughout his career, his 60s stuff is just more accessible especially for someone just getting into French films
Couldn't list em all user. But La Jetée is on that list

The Gay Science by Friedrich Nietzsche

Tarkovsky's Mirror if I must be honest with you senpai

nice books, lads
mind telling me what Translations you used while reading those films? If possible please tell me the Directors too and the publishing house as well.

Thanks a lot.

when you don't get any replies so you have to post the same joke 3 times

shit sorry make that 4

i hope you liked them
what's your favorite film btw? Is it Anna Karenina?

Lads, what's the most Yea Forums back scrubber out there?

My dog is dead.

What are you talking about you crazy guy that's a book not a movie!

>making all those jokes because you don't understand how much those directors were inspired by books and vice-versa

The screenplay of Hiroshima mon Amour was literally written by acclaimed author Marguerite Duras. Resnais in particular admired her, but others filmmakers also took inspiration from her.

If you wan to rail at off-topic thread just target any of the "why are women so dumb" threads, there's guaranteed to be one of that ilk on the catalog at almost any given time.

That is a very subjective question, but here are some pretty good popular ones
The Conformist
Days Of Heaven
Lawrence Of Arabia
The Mirror
The Night Of The Hunter
Once Upon A Time In America
The Searchers
2001: A Space Odyssey

>The Night Of The Hunter
My fellow 50s white rural Protestant. Excellent movie.

Lads, what's the most Yea Forums unicorn in your opinion?

Try watching film adaptations of Shakespeare plays and classic novels, most of them have multiple adaptations

Climax by Gaspar Noé, in my opinion is comfy but powerful and really shows what cinematogtaphy can do that literature can't.

Try to find a collection of Eric Rohmer films. Not only are they Yea Forums, there's a lot of talking in them. I watched them over and over when I was learning French.

>Climax
>comfy
wew lad, you must live in somalia or syria to consider that comfy

Good God Monet is almost unimpeachably perfect as a painter - in terms of consistency of quality and technical mastery- and yet you managed to find one of the worst paintings by him that I’ve ever seen.

bump

What are your thoughts on the Three Colors trilogy, Yea Forums?

Red > Blue > White. They're all great though.

Good Will Hunting

andrei rublev

>and about Duras, she stole it from Kierkegaard you roasty toasty
So? Assuming that's true that makes it even more Yea Forums.

Your argument has a tiny flaw, miss. Cinema is not literature by any stretch.

LIberals like are you are responsible for "poets" like Dylan getting a Nobel.
