Every neo-liberal I know has a superiority complex, but can't tell me any books they've read outside of assigned reading in college.
The average conservative doesn't even pretend to read besides maybe some cringe hack book from Shapiro or something worse. They generally think reading is gay and a waste of time, but the neo-liberals believe they are intelligent and cultured without even reading
you're talking about progressives when you say neoliberal, and yeah theyre complete faggots. Conservativs are generally dumb and dont read that much, but progressives literally can't read at all, they can only interpret fragments of things into their ideology.
Idk who or what you are but dont underestimate the modern far right, because we actually do read, and there is a reason we've driven you off every platform where you can't ban us. Every thinker you adore, from Plato to Hume to kant and Marx and Hegel and Freud. they're all racist. and we can always point that out and on this site you can;t just block and mute us, so you have to try to argue with us, and you will literally never win even once, because every shred of evidence is on one side.
and if you accept that then your entire worldview is fucked because youre a progressive before being a marxist or leftist of any kind, racism is heresy in your mind, youre so terrified of it you cant even think it because you dont want to be excommunicated from your pseudo-tribe.
I despise people like you with my entire soul and you will be murdered either by the barbarians you invite into your home through unthinking cowardice, or the fascist reaction of the men who aren't as pathetic as you.
Justin Gomez
>Every neo-liberal I know has a superiority complex From my experience it's much more complicated than that. The problem is that they're oversocialized, and from that they feel superiority over people who are not as socialized, essentially herd mentality. Among themselves, they behave like the weakest, bitchiest people, their only form of humour is self-deprecation going as far as jokingly implying that they're a cuck, low-IQ, weak mentally and physically. But since they're oversocialized, they know others will play along and self-deprecate themselves like they do, so they feel safe in groups of equally oversocialized people. Whenever someone comes along with a bit of self-respect, they feel extremely threatened and don't know how to respond. If you have self-respect and stand your ground, they won't tell you how they feel about you directly, instead they will likely call you names for no good reason, be smarmy or most likely just get away from you as quickly as possible to talk about you with their oversocialized friends, so that they feel safe again, HEY EVERYTHING IS normal. You can see a perfect example of this behavior in r*ddit. You'll quickly notice that some of the most popular subs are ones shaming behavior that the oversocialized bugs disapprove of. There are even subs where people go ASK directly if the oversocialized bugs aggree of it (/r/amitheasshole). Examples include iamverysmart, trashy, insanepeoplefacebook, quityourbullshit, murderedbywords, iamatotalpieceofshit and plenty of others. Most amusingly, whenever they see a behavior that they disapprove of, they never confront the person directly and try to elucidate the situation, figure out why the person does as they do, they take a pic and go back to their little swarms to get consolation. Also you'll often see on r*ddit that even if a person says something factually correct and relevant to the discussion, they will still be downvoted because "it's the way they said it". Essentially, if you don't resort to using the bugmen formulas and ways of phrasing things they instantly sense it and see you as a threat. So for the most part, they don't actually have a superiority complex, it's just that it comes across as superiority complex to someone who is not well-versed in how bugmen think and take what bugmen say at face value.

"Why don't faggots read?" "Plenty of gay people read." "I mean faggots, not gay people. There's a difference." - OP No one calls a smart or well-read neoliberal a "neoliberal". Of course all "neoliberals" you know are dumb. It's already in your definition.

I can think of a single, smart main stream conservative except maybe Tucker. Conservatism in America is outright retarded and it’s because they are essentially neoliberals who like Israel and don’t like abortion. Where it counts they are exactly like the neolibs

Neoliberals i know read stuff like Hayek (if they're less Neo) and move to stuff like Economics of European integration, Why nations fail, Clash of civilizations. They generally have an alright grasp of economics and geopolitics but naively have too much trust in the EU. They're critical of the EU, but they like it too much for my taste. Now, if you mean progressives, i have no clue lmao, i don't get along with them. They're generally somewhat informed on subjects and just like to spout how things are shit and offer solutions without considering for even a second the implementation. I know one chick who's read Rawls and Dworkin. I guess most of them just read social media posts. There's a lot of truth in that post. Reminds me of how (most) women formed fucking clans in elementary school and would do everything together. Are there any good papers on how oversocialization affects behavior?

It speaks volumes about the absolute state of this board how half of the posters don't even know what Neoliberalism actually is and confuse it with the "Libtards" from those Ben Shapiro youtube compilations.
Tyler Lewis
neoliberalism is literally the current state of liberalism retard, you are historically illiterate and know nothing about rawls or actual "liberal" political theorists, probably just some genetic dead end poorfag from leftypol who conflates liberalism with conservatism because liberals and conservatives both believe in free markets (conservatives less so)
Jaxon Kelly
Why burgers call their left liberals when liberalism (economy) is far right? I can't even understand this post because this burger confusion, nor me, nor other anons here, some speak like they're talking about the left and some speak like they're talking about neoliberalists (economy)
Connor Murphy
>you're talking about progressives when you say neoliberal, and yeah theyre complete faggots. Conservativs are generally dumb This. Conservatives are just no not a threat. Liberals have actual organisational ability and moral authority (despite being complete trash). Conservatives can humiliate themselves in some new way. Liberals will take shots at your career and friendships and family.
Connor Thomas
I suspect this is the position of many high IQ people who still care about others and don't want to become utter parasites.
Camden Cox
It's excusable, phenomena such as "humane capitalism" and "friendly corporations" are a direct result of post-soviet globalization and dissemination of information technology. It does of course not directly tie into actual neoliberal theory (whether Pinochet or Greenspan), but has a similar pedigree.
Lincoln Evans

>liberalism (economy) is far right? This makes no sense unless you're a Marxist, in which case you're using different definitions of words than non-Marxists.
Cooper Hill
From what I understand, there are "neoliberals" in the economic sense of 19th century economic liberalism on steroids (i.e. the Chicago school), and then there are "neoliberals" in the social sense, people who want to co-opt progressive and socialist thought under the greater umbrella of capitalism. Hell, many so-called "neoliberals" in the second category aren't cynical elites who are looking to preserve the status quo, but are rather pragmatic leftists who are sympathetic to progressives and socialists. The key difference is whether you want gradual or immediate change, and whether you believe that markets (with regulations) are a salvageable system for equitably distributing goods and services.
You can see a similar paradigm existing across many socialist movements throughout history. Some advocate for gradual change by following the Marxist teleological view of history, progressing through feudalism and capitalism before undergoing socialism, while others wanted immediate, violent revolutionary action to usher in socialism as quickly as possible. Taken to its broadest conclusions, you could view this dynamic as the difference between the United States and the Soviet Union, both republics (at least in name) run by a managerial elite whose ideological systems were the logical culminations of Enlightenment thinking. Their chief differences seemed vast during the Cold War, but as the belief systems of the United States elite evolved along its natural trajectory, it started to become clear the only differences between the two superpowers were what they believed was the best path to socialism.
Reddit is the language of the institutions and the language of snitches. It’s important for any young person to know what Reddit finds acceptable in order to navigate the contemporary institutions, whether they be social media, disloyal female relatives, or university. The workplace remains, ime, relatively free of such things, although there’s plenty of things I wouldn’t say there either.

Conservatives generally don’t read the Bible from what I can tell. They just repost random feel good verses on Facebook or listen to what their pastor says, who also doesn’t read the Bible

ITT define neoliberalism. What (or who) do you mean by this when you say it? Did the word use to mean something different than it does now?
Until we know what we're talking about we can't have a discussion.

It is only tangentially on topic, but it is also a thing that is mostly associated with leftist and liberal political views. The fucking shows where news of the world are presented in an ironic and "funny" way. I'm talking about shot like the Tonight Show and the more recent versions. They are incredibly biased, but I know you could say that about any news source. It's just the pull that they have on the general population and the way they push their agenda while almost banalizing every single topic they touch, all while some retards laugh, clap and boo at whatever the host says, like they where in a fucking sitcom. I don't know if it is just another symptom of a consumer ADHD riddled culture or did something else makes it this way but the way they are treated as legit and influential just makes my blood boil
Angel Garcia
It's also complicated by the fact that a critical approach to the bible nearly inevitably turns people into atheists. Ergo, you have pastors who have read the bible and flocks that haven't.

Neoliberalism and neoliberals are the awful cousin of libertarians who don't believe in the free market because they've been bred by corporate propaganda to think only the richest global corporations should have the final say and should control all market forces, even controlling their own governments/states economics and extending their control globally.
Neo-Liberalism is shit like buying 1$ coffee made from slave labor in Argentina and making companies into individual entities. The Trans-Pacific Partnership was one of the worst Neo-Liberal acts yet.
In America both the conservatives and liberals are mostly entirely made of neoliberals, with maybe a slim >5% 'progressives' being socialist and commie gimmees.
Kiddos who just want their Overwatch figurines and Call of Duty sent shipped cheap with their cola-cola sent from the Congo are unknowingly neo-liberal dipshits. It's a socio-economic phenomenon.
overwatch figurines, i'm regularly buying them, i admit it. but are we aware that when we buy a lewd tracer figurine from amazon, we also buy quite a lot of ideology?

Game of Thrones is not a book. A Song of Ice and Fire is different, though is just as popular between the normie neo-liberals crowd that touch books.
