You should read Aristotle before you read St. Aquinas, and then you won't have to read him, because he just stole everything from him.
>Should I read what the apostles wrote or what some guy from the 13th century wrote first?
Your brain on Roman Catholicism everybody
I've been reading The Politics, what else by Aristotle can I read that will give me the essence of Aquinas's scholasticism?
>the apostles wrote the gospels
This is your brain on Protestantism everybody
Physics (it's not about mechanical physics, it's about the origin of the universe, God, the prime mover, etc.)
The first half of Aquinas is basically a rewrite of all those arguments.
This. The gospels were written by St. Thomas Aquinas. He literally invented Christianity.
If Aquinas is just a ripoff of Aristotle, why is he so highly regarded as the "scholastic father"
>the "scholastic father"
umm that would be John Damascene sweety
Aquinas himself praises Aristotle nonstop as "the Philosopher" as if he had been the only one.
The gospels were not written by the apostles, dumbass. They were written much later.
stop posting her you fucking retard
I'm so glad that Ben Shapiro can finally accept her body now
Is this the Mrs John whatsisname autistic girl?

8 chan's Agatha is dead so you have to expect this.
I don't know but she's of the whole Agatha bunch that is fawned after.
This fat catholic priest
So I read the complete works of Plato and I’m midway through doing the same for Aristotle.
Considering that from here on the surviving corpus for each important philosopher increases exponentially, I’m going to have to start being a little more selective in my reading. What should I read for Aquinas and St. Augustine? Was thinking about the Penguin Selected Writings for Aquinas and City of God/Confessions for St. Augustine.
Bratty from a site called rateyourmusic
what makes here bratty besides the fact that she won't have sex with you?
you fucking dunce that's her username
That's a rude username
>I want to study Christian theology but I haven't read the Bible and don't want to ugh
Good job for exposing yourself as a stupid LARPer like every other retarded """"Catholic"""" on this board.
>read this book about a bunch of Chads and Stacies having sex!
No thanks, I want to live a pure Christian life.
brb fapping to trap porn
i'd be cautious about the penguin selected writings, you don't want to get finangled into just reading his more secular stuff
honestly, as long as you are and have been doing the daily Mass readings, along with (if you'd really like to be a good Catholic) the Office of Readings each day, you can go right ahead to St. Aquinas. Reading the Bible through on your own is a Protestant meme, the Church encourages the laity to take things slower in the context of the Mass/Liturgy/Divine Office for a reason
>Reading the Bible through on your own is a Protestant meme
Lies. Pic is from the Manual of Indulgences. The Church encourages reading Scripture and grants plenary indulgences for doing so.
>Reading the Bible through on your own is a Protestant meme
Imagine being such a cuck you need someone to hold your hand while reading the bible
Also see here, from the Catechism. Fuck off you insipid faggot LARPer.
Indulgences are one of the most ridiculous things to ever be produced by the church. Sins aren't excusable
What would you suggest as an alternative? Reading the entire Summa Theologica would probably be overkill, especially after covering all of Aristotle.
Fucking redditors
Skip the naturalistic parts of Summa, straight to the Christian stuff
I have a deeply unhealthy infatuation with kennedi
