Yes, it's infinitely superior. The innate beauty of Italian coupled with the poetic genius of Dante is enough to make the entire body of English literature look like puerile gibberish. Just compare the first stanza of the Italian to any English translation to see how poetically impoverished English is. Italian, on the other hand, has been the language of poetry for hundreds of years. It's not even worth reading the poem in translation. Would you eat coq au vin if instead of wine literal shit was used? That's what I thought. Fuck English and fuck the barbarian-tongued anglo-saxons.
