I think the ebonic plague sprang for the most part from a banal profit motive... People who wanted to sell nigger-music to young people. A lot of marketing went into that, which is undeniably a kind of 'engineering'. It wasn't just a latent evolution of counter-culture -- it was aggressively promoted by oligarchs (even if only to line their pockets).
