Just exhausted this podcast, it was ok, but I'd prefer something more in depth. Anyone know of some good philosophy/literature podcasts?
Yea Forums podcasts
The History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps is a good chronological overview done by an actual professor.
Kenneth Brown
Partially examined life is as good of discussion of philosophy you are gonna get in this medium
Very Bad Wizards is pretty kino too, more low key and not as topical
Other Life is okay at best, Justin Murphy is an annoying human being but at least some of his guests are interesting
Myth of the 20th century is tangential but surprisingly good

Podcasts aren't Yea Forums
>This guy makes like 70k a year from a philosophy podcast
>Has no formal education
>Spent like 7 years stocking shelves in a Safeway
How did he do it?
>70k
source? There's no way this podcast makes that much
Joe Rogan podcast
From his Patreon, he makes around 7.5k / episode, and he releases one almost every month.
graphtreon.com
According to this he makes more now. More like 11k per ep.
Seems to me like there is a vacuum right now in terms of philosophy podcasts. The only one that seems to be going on for a long time with any rigor or credibility is this one There are a lot of interesting smaller podcasts but the hosts are void of charisma. I'm not right-wing but the podcasts by Justin Murphy and Kantbot do stumble into an interesting mix of topical news, philosophy, and culture. They're just too boring and niche to take it anywhere. Contrarianism and controversy can be the driver of good conversation but somehow they come across as uninspired. Red Scare has the right personalities for it but unfortunately neither host can read.
The only reason Philosophize This is popular is because it's accessible and not pretentious. I don't like the podcast but I admire those qualities. If there were other podcasts that could mix accessibility and depth, I'm sure there is a huge market for that. Partially Examined Life gets those two parts of the formula right but are very cautious about applying them to current events, probably because they don't want to alienate anyone.
Calling it now, if you're young and have charisma and a knowledge of philosophy, you could probably pull in thousands of collars a month. There is a niche that isn't occupied.
Tekwars maybe. It's certainly hosted by two Yea Forumsfags but their too awkward to keep the conversation engaging.
What the fuck, time to start a philosophy podcast
Manifesto is pretty good. I don't agree with all the takes, but they link the content discussed so you can read it yourself and compare your take. It's really helped expand my horizons
Came to suggest vbw
The dude's voice is boring as shit, but David Gordon's history of political theory is really good.
hermitix is the best lit/phil podcast by a long margin

This guy has a charm, or at least he is not insufferable imo.
>podcast
>any intellectual merit
Quit being such a lazy pseud. Read a book if you want enlightened opinions. Listen to the SleepyCabin Podcast. Podcast's are suppose to be lighter entertainment.
God he's such a brainlet
Kinda depends on the guest for that one.
Listening to an audiobook is a better usage of time desu
Wow you should showed us. Only a real high IQ intellectual would respond with a tumblr meme.
He is accessible and down to earth. Basically, he is a less douchy version of black science man.

What about someone who's good at bullshitting? I'm a math brainlet, and I convinced a math minor to have some "amazing revelation," and I'm still not sure what I was talking about.
I just finished “The Chapter Titles Were So Good” podcast series which has three funny dudes read and talk about a chapter of Harry Potter per week. Very worthwhile listen.
I would really love to do a version of this where i read a chapter of the lord of the rings per week and review it as part of a podcasts. No one in my personal life I know would be interested in doing this with me sadly.
Kantbot just mogs all his guests because none of them actually read
how many rogans does it take to to make a full rogan if a rogan is one rogan's tall?
Unironically the Tekwars podcast by kantbot. podcasts.apple.com
>I would really love to do a version of this where i read a chapter of the lord of the rings per week and review it
Any podcasts that do this?
youtube.com
Alex Jones is great on it
Unironically, Alex Jones on Joe Rogan is the peak of entertainment in podcasting.
Any particular episodes you'd recommend? I only listened to the ones with Land & Spencer, and Shawn & Tacos.
Either the Sam Hyde one or the one where they interview that shooter guy
:o What to believe now ? How do I learn more about what he's talking about?
Why didn't i do this first
I doubt anyone here would enjoy it but the new yorker fiction podcast can be pretty nice
You're more tolerable when you don't have an incentive to do it.

The Perfume Nationalist. Imagine if Death in June were podcasters and that Douglas Pearce was influenced by Samuel Richardson, the Marquis de Sade and Paglia.
