Protagoras says man is the measure of all things. Plato says is that a measure of all things (that man is the measure of all things). It's a common argument of essence > existence

But we are part of life. How long have things been alive? 1 billion years? Even in comparison to the eons the universe has been around, 1 billion years is a long time. It could be possible to trace your genetic lineage all the way back through time to life's inception, that is my understanding. Is this really not significant?

Perhaps, but maybe our grandeur is in our relative complexity, our intelligence itself that makes us important. We can understand and we can build. Think about the arrangement of atoms, molecules, cells, organs, etc. that it takes to produce a human. Where else in the universe is this level of order and complexity seen? Where else does it give rise to something as amazing as a nervous system?

I don't see any meaning or purpose in life, but existence/consciousness itself is still pretty great. I'd live forever if I could. Also just because there's no objective good or evil doesn't mean you can't be a subjectively good human. Might aswell, right? "Immoral" stuff and pleasure are also meaningless, if you use nihilism as an excuse to do nothing but chase highs you're just a drug addict with no free will.

Nihulism simply means there is no OBJECTIVE value, it doesn't mean that you can't find subjective meaning or that you have to be depressed.
I simply think all values are subjective in the end, even if they are shared by the majority of people.
