because its derivative of things that are already derivative. For them humour is simply a collective pool of references, no one understand why they are funny but they are aware that according to the big other that they are supposed to be funny. It's like when you watch a TV show and they make a reference that you don't understand but you laught anyway, maybe you sort of reverse engineered it and your lizard brain gets it or maybe you just want to fit in with the people of the laugh track.

Monty python was basically doing a filmed herald (an improvised play) what’s jarring is the story jumps- editing jumps were secondary and are really not jarring at all by today’s standards

When I say jarring jump cuts I’m talking about within a recorded statement cutting and smashing t together to leave out dead space and hesitation etc.
Not a jump cut in general- one that is only inserted to disorient
