>b-but y-you fagot, there are many different types of anime, it's not just o-
Shut the fuck up. SHUT THE FUCK UP. You know exactly what I mean, don't play dumb. Recs please

You want embarassing incelfantasies about too young girls, pretentious nonsense symbolism, awful dialogue, terrible spectacles with no sense of scale and complete tonal unawareness with repetetive storytelling and a shit ending?

If only Crime and Punishment had giant mecha fights every chapters, it'd have been perfect...

>Literature that feels like anime
Here's, like, an honestly serious answer: 'Journey to the West'.

Brothers Karamazov has all these and mecha

Murakami

I'm a weeb and I read classic lit. What's stopping you from doing both?

What stopped you from giving an actual recommendation?

While I love Bulgakov's Master and Margareta, I've always thought it's Classic Lit: the Anime. It has a generic everyman self-insert (at least for Yea Forums), a waifu character for him, a fanservice scene for her, weird Christian symbolism, a villain that's not quite villain, his quirky miniboss squad and so on.

Gravity's Rainbow
The Bible

i wonder if anyone unironically got triggered by this post

I didn't watch anime: I am narutard.

OH IT SHOWS QUENTIN IT SHOWS.

your moms ballsack, bitch

i dont know what anime is like i tried to watch one with robots but it was dumb so i stopped

It was weak so no

Sounds like GR!

Brandon Sanderson. He'll lower your iq, but then you already watch anime. Try vampire hunter d maybe.

>Murakami
^
also pulp fantasy

you can read the books that the Legend of the galactic heroes anime is based off

the anime is superior to the books though

Been wondering this for a while: is there a literary equivilant to End of Evangelion?

>I want cute girls and tsunderes
Pride and Prejudice
>I want Dragon Ball Z supeheroes
Outlaws of the Marsh
Journey to the West
>I want weird, quirky children's stories like Studio Ghibli
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Coraline
Artemis Fowl
>I want a meta book
The Broom of the System

1984 desu

ASoIaF, unironically.
Anime just boils down to X vs Y and that's all those books are.

What if you want the End of Evangelion?

Alice's Adventures

Don Quixote is like an anime with a weeaboo as the protagonist, except replace anime with books about knights.

Came to post this

The Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Any great epic from the Far East, really.

The Iliad (really)

Is there an epic from the far east that resembles End of Evangelion?

Weak

Exquisite opinion

I'm reading the Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and it feels like a giant episode of Bakemonogatari. I'm really interested in reading other books like this.

Just read manga

Holy shit, never noticed that. You're totally right

Mason & Dixon

Journey to the West
Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Eiji Yoshikawa books (Musashi, Taiko, Heike etc)

Yeah I wish more books where driven by zany spectacal. And fanstical premises

Got any like that ?

Cradle series by Will Wright is pretty fun

/thread

Unironically Lolita

Yeah something like End of Evangelion. Any books like that?

its funny you ask OP because a lot of anime is inspired by classic european literature, so it's sort of full circle.

He doesn't read.

Like what?

Red and black

manga

Liu Cixin, particularly Death's End and some stories of the Wandering Earth

this
Iliad's all-girl battle shounen adaptation fucking when

well you can start reading light novels if you have shit taste

This, in particular Norwegian Wood, it's a harem. Unlike anime, the girls orbiting the quiet and unremarkable main character actually do fuck him instead of just lusting after it.

Crime and Punishment would make for great anime. It has best girl wars (prostitute vs maid), a hopeless main character and edge.

>a harem
>the quiet and unremarkable main character
based. On the list
>actually do fuck him
dropped

WILL NO-ONE FUCKING TELL ME WHAT THE LITERARY EQUIVALENT OF END OF EVANGELION IS?

Murakami of course, and HIROMI KAWAKAMI!! Just finished The Nakano Thrift Shop and couldn't finish it fast enough. Strange Weather in Tokyo is also beautiful and satisfying.

smoke crack and read the bible

The Count of Monte Cristo

Any litrpg

The bible+torah+kabbalist texts+freud+jung

>when the anime version is better

where the giant robots in those doe

Perhaps the real giant robots were psychological complexes we made along the way

never watched an anime or manga. ama

It is more like an RPG with lots of sidequests

Why are you here?

unironically this

THIS

I'm surprised no one mentioned Demian yet.

Just going off of your NGE reference, you want to read the Revelation of John and parts of Ezekiel.
