Why do people read fiction, seriously? It didn't happen, so who gives a shit about it? It's just going to sit in your brain occupying space that could have been taken up by a good history/biography book.

I'm more interested in ideas. Who cares what happened. Do you gossip too you little bitch?
Reading the posts here is even worse.
It gives me aesthetic experiences which have inherent value
for the style
for the characters
for the perspective
it can also make you more perceptive
What a sad autistic post.
I read it so I can write it. I write it because it exercises my brain to keep track of variable characters and personalities and imagine the consequences of their interactions. Moreover, what’s my alternative? When you think about it modern non-fiction, especially history, is the most baby-tier pseudo-intellectual poison you could push through your skull. It’s always written by an author either born from or working within the corrupt echo chamber that is establishment academia, people who disregard or outright reject physical and scientific evidence, people who always have an agenda, but who feign impartiality. Non-fiction is just long-form journalism. Fiction is the purest expression of human creativity; it’s the soul on paper
>something has to happen physically for it to have value
Yea Forums isn’t the board for you, and forums aren’t the place for you either
The experiences the author the author wants to tell you and weaved into his fictional story are/were real.
escapism
It is a waste if its all you read.
True, lit is full of 15 year old marxists who dont read and are bad at writing
>reading fiction ever
Do people actually do this?
*15 year old self-proclaimed marxists
You're right. That's why I only read the Bible.
Why do people read nonfiction, seriously? It already happened, so who gives a shit about it? It's just going to sit in your brain for a few weeks and then be forgotten like everything else you learned in high school.
I don't user. I really don't know...
>actually reading about real people and real events
>reading about imaginary characters, situations and settings
>most of them being shitty tolkien-like epics or 2582 SF worldbuilding with cringe name
Why do we have this thread every day?
As opposed to what, being dubbed a marxist by the local archbishop?
Look everyone, YET ANOTHER "durr, fiction bad" thread
/thread
>It didn't happen, so who gives a shit about it?
The holocaust didn't happen either, yet there is a swarm of books written on that subject.
take your trips back to /pol/ and stay there, thank you
Reading the sun also rises which is "fiction" right now but there's no reason I shouldn't take it seriously. The story and it's contents are very real. Recommend to all of you
I do it for fun when im camping or something but yeh typically never read fiction. shitll rot your brain
yes, heavens forbid your 80 IQ be lowered any further.
fucking scrubs
this
So much history/biography is essentially fiction.
Nobody in these threads ever cite any worth while non fiction pieces. Did you drop your imagination?
Why do people read non-fiction, seriously? It is something that is already been recorded, so who gives a shit about it? It's just going to sit in your brain occupying space when you could've just browsed Wikipedia or some other places.
Is this your idea of fiction? lmao kys
What would havendorff be without our new aspiring hero?
