Every time I browse Reddit I have to forcibly suspend my disbelief that anyone could think "downvoting" is a good idea for a discussion community. It's like coming across a community of people eating handfuls of their own shit. I keep wanting to go "what's the joke? where are the cameras?" I can't accept that a community like that could be real.

It's also amazing how consistently bad redditors are. It's like they're all a single amorphous cloud of homogeneous normie stink, that periodically emits tendrils which then take superficially human shape and start talking to you. I can't see redditors as human. Whatever the opposite of individuation is, that place is it.

It's good to know that's a feature but just knowing that people go >:(!!! and click "Downvote" on a post they don't like makes me feel physically sick. I can see the insides of their empty fucking heads as they do it, going straight from "Nrrugh! I don't like this!" to "Are there any means at my immediate disposal for punishing this thing I don't like for not satisfying me?!" without any "Perhaps something ought not to be destroyed without question simply for displeasing me, a retard" stage.

I have never had an interesting conversation on Reddit. They're an angry people and they don't know how to deal with different opinions. I usually get somebody that ends up making a lot of assumptions because they don't actually have the curiosity to find out what you believe in why, and you just can't have a conversation with people like that. They aren't able to ask the right questions or attack the right points because they lack that curiosity. They want to dominate people and shut them down but they're so inept that it isn't even fun.

I see your point but I might argue in the opposite, for you see, how can we clarify if something is of higher quality if we are not able to quickly access and perceive the other outcomes of the so-called thread?

While using Reddit users are liable to downvote topics they deem offensive and crude, but doing so results in the forcible removal of good content that can not be recognized due to the current state of the popular opinion within the /r. This removes the perception of the surrounding "downvoted" and "disliked" comments that may or may not be of better or even higher quality than their counterparts up at the top of the so-called thread.

This then results in the creation of a so-called Reddit echo-chamber in which certain opinions are not able to replace nor changed due to their popularity and relevance within the sight of the thread and /r.

Yeah this one resonates loudly with me, I always see people replying something along the lines of "you're a vile racist and you are what's wrong with the world" (or any variant but with the usual buzzwords). This happens a lot, and it reslly shuts down debate as those with a dissenting opinion get downvotes or this type of comments slung at them, I've even seen the latter in r/bestof, which is unironically true as the best they can do is making false assumptions and ad-homs.
