It seemed very important to me when I read it at 19, I felt I had learned a great deal from it, but the book was quickly forgotten and the few times I have tried to read it in the 20 years since have been failures, find it insufferable. I keep the book around though, I hope to be able to read it again someday and perhaps see some of what was once so important.
i read it
it's a load of nonsense
fortunately it's quite short so it didn't waste too much of my time

>there are people who unironically watch hour-long Yea Forums meme videos
>there are people who unironically relate to and form their identity around wojack variants
>tfw can’t tell if this is a redditor unironically reacting or if I’m the redditor
I don’t get it. Did Govinda get enlightened or did he just make out with Siddhartha at the end?
Names in the book are longer than the substance within it.
Read it when I was 18 which is a year ago. I thought it was cool and kinda inspirational but didn't really get anything new out of it.
Yeah, bro, we get it - you are edgy depressed guy in his 20s that reads literature.
>third world spics are the doomer spamming redditors
makes sense to me.
eww
literally me
made me appreciate sitting by the river doing nada more
I liked the peaceful life chilling with buddha boatman in unoppressive penury at the end but the message seemed simple enough to me, just live your own life man just do you bro
yeah okay
still comfy though
I liked the book, but I don't know if it was any great influence. Of course, I read it when I was in my 40s, so I might be less adaptable than you all.
I didn't even finish it because it is a piece of shit like everything hesse wrote
Imagine being an 18 year old loser and thinking you understand the world well enough to be jaded

Jesus christ
It’s very meh. Not memorable in the least
I just finished it and I don’t see why it’s hyped up.
Nice little read I guess but it’s not a must read.
Comfy life in the ferrymans hut too
>Windows 7
B-based!
the doomer crowd is mostly people that don't even use chans anyway
Age has little to do with it. Unless you're speaking solely of a certain strata of American society, you have no idea what experiences and thoughts some 18yo has had, which may vastly outweigh yours no matter the years.
It helps if you've read eckhart tolle or early Buddhist material before hand.
