Depression is a misnomer, what you are experiencing is more aptly termed despair. Despair is a spiritual ailment and can only be cured by reconciling yourself with the Lord and understanding that no historical event - past, present, or future - is beyond His Providence. Yes, it can be done (at least is working for me so far). I would give you an advice that had worked for me. There are two things in this world, the truth and how you handle that truth aka "reality". my advice is to accept the truth and handle it in a joyful way.
Lift hard, eat good, sleep well, define your passions and set goals, keep friends and family close, learn a lot, socialize even more, get spiritual, grow your own spices and food, travel, express yourself through art, music or dance, unironically have sex, abstain from porn, process and fix your emotional problems and traumas, and tell your mom you love her.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. If you're actually committed to it and work hard, you will see massive improvements in the positivity of your mental state. But don't go in half-assing it and being surprised when it doesn't work.

No. It's part of the chemical makeup of your brain and part of your emotional framework. Treating it as something to be overcome or fought is just going to turn you against yourself and make things worse. You should instead treat it as an aspect of your life that you should make efforts to abate and cope with. Seek therapy and medication (if necessary). Learn what triggers your depression and recognize the thought patterns that are indications you're having an episode. Build a support network and make efforts in your life to not let it define you as a person. I have struggled with this for years and it's truly a challenge. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.
Even if you're just christcuck role-playing, this advice is terrible to tell someone struggling with a mental illness you fuck.
A few years ago I was able to cure my depression with meditation, but it was not a permanent fix. I was happy for about a week and then I slipped back into sadness. I don't blame meditation for this. I think that's just the way it goes. You have to keep at it.
But during that week I saw the benefits of meditation and realized how it worked. A few points:
- Meditation is like training for your mind. It gives you the power to control your thoughts. Without meditation I was at the mercy of whatever thoughts flowed into my head (and I thought being at the mercy of my mind was just how living worked), but with meditation I was able to control that flow, even stop it entirely.
- Meditation gurus talk about "seeing things as they truly are" and what I think they mean by that is that thoughts cloud perception and create an "overlay." When you get rid of the overlay, you feel as though you're seeing clearly for the first time.
- A problem isn't a real problem if it goes away when you stop thinking about it, and a lot of my problems were of that nature.
- I realized that, previously, I was absolutely convinced that I knew what was going on in other people's heads. And what I thought was there was angering me. For instance, my father. I would sometimes get angry thinking about what I thought he was thinking, when in reality there was no way I could possibly know what was going on in his head.
Anyway, this great week of happiness and epiphanies didn't last forever. My thoughts clouded over again, and even right now I'm currently depressed. But I glimpsed that meditation can help and I urge you to try it.

I had clinical depressions (with suicide intentions) for over 10 years, then went to a hospital for 3 months to get real treatment. That was in 2011, and I haven't had depressions since.

I guess it would be called Vipassana. I simply focused on bodily sensations and my breath and when my mind wandered I brought it back. For many years I had been practicing in a different way, striving to remain detached from my thoughts while still allowing them to flow. In retrospect all that was happening was I was getting lost in thought. I think there are real meditations like this, but I didn't much out of that method. When I took a more active approach I saw results.

I got rid of depression by suppressing my emotions for 3 years and read tons of stoic philosophy. I made an emotion journal where I would put down how I felt numerically and would always make sure I was somewhere in the middle. It's difficult at first but then I was able to take control of my emotions and now can switch them on and off. Also I don't feel much anymore so I don't know if it's a good thing or not but I'm definitely 10000% more productive in life.

To add on to this, I learned a new language to stop ruminating in my native language. Whenever I felt a sadness surge come on I would just learn foreign vocab.

I don't feel much anymore but I'm not very productive. I could be out at the beach learning to swim, or reading for a personal project, practicing guitar or piano, and what not but I just don't have the motivation to. Indifference isn't working out for me, I want to feel happy and sad and anxious and excited.
I'll see a shrink in a few weeks, I'd reccomend the same to OP.

Most depression stems from uncharismatic thought such as: I can't work out, I can't find a job, nobody will love me.
Replace that with charismatic thought such as: Whilst in my bedroom I can do push ups. Or I can study another language using duolingo. Or I can take cold showers.
Once you become skilled in a few areas the chances of falling in love increases exponentially. Stop feeling pity for your self nobody else will help you out.

You need to ask yourself why you are depressed and what it would mean to you for there to be a world where everything is fine and normal and you could attain happiness.
Happiness is simply a word we created when someone reaches a goal that they created and Despair for when these goals seem unattainable no matter how much effort is spent.
If everything would have been made that all their needs would be fullfilled without effort there would be no true happiness simply due to the fact that the effort to attain them would be negligible and simply unsatisfying.
The only reason you are aware that there is a possibility for happiness is that you are now experiencing the other side of that happiness in which you have not yet attained it.
