What’s the consensus on this book?

Isn't it YA shit?

I note in passing that it was written by a woman.

>Feminist retelling

yes

It’s not

Forget Circe, where's my hot Odysseus/Calypso attempted mindbreak doujins?

First I’ve heard of it. I’ve heard of Atwood’s
The Penelopiad, and enjoyed Le Guin’s Lavinia. Are there more?

The books you mentioned aren’t trash, that’s the difference

I'm not the only one who wanted to get dommed by Calypso? And Circe?

>title of book is written by
these are never good.

Bump

i have a fetish about being transformed into a pig. will this satisfy me?

>Atwood’s The Penelopiad

Is this good? I don't like what i've read of Atwood so far (Handmaids Tale, Oryx and Crake)

Maybe you’re just looking for feminist retellings, but I just finished Return to Ithaca by Eyvind Johnson which is the best thing I’ve read all year. It’s a retelling of the Odyssey with a focus on the passing of time and what war/violence does to people.
plz read it Yea Forums I want someone to talk about it with.

>Volume 6

Have you read the rest?

what

I got the author wrong, my mistake, this is what I found amazon.co.uk/Return-Ithaca-6-Adventures-Odysseus/dp/1548734926/ref=pd_rhf_se_p_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=A8FT6VCV3GGJW6S5W12Z

the odyssey

Notably better than her first one, Song of Achilles. This approaches Mary Renault level.

>genre fiction

I haven't found a single exception to this rule.

Why can't women write anything that's not centered on themselves?

How is this centered on herself?

The author is obviously a descendant and/or reincarnation of Circe.

Very interesting. Well, "write what you know."
