Start with Siege

Fucks this bullshit

It's a beginner kit for a reason. If the works aren't good in and of themselves, they remain important for literary credit (You haven't read X!), or cultural touching stone (It's like in X...)

Yes, all of them are at least worth reading, but a few are way better than most of what is on the list. Catch-22, Invisible Man, Lolita and Siddhartha are all a cut above the rest

>ripped off from Faulkner's Intruder in the Dust
Not really. They both share the case of a wrongly accused black man, however in Faulkner, the black man gets exonerated, and there is no court trial. He is exonerated through detective work by a child, his black bosom buddy, and an old woman. You're clearly a delusional seething incel /pol/tard.

Invisible Man is great, one of the best books of the 20th century.

To Kill a Mockingbird is SJW trash. Lord of the Flies is an okay horror story for kids, but don't expect much from it.

My problem is that I just simply don't find some of them interesting. E.g. I didn't enjoy Gatsby or Of Mice and Men at all. I found them shallow in theme and ideas.

>skip invisible man
Non schizoid detected

bump

>brave new world
shit
>a clockwork orange
shit. dropped it as soon as I saw all the made-up words.
>To kill a mockingbird
shit
>Catch-22
Very good. Read it.
>One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Good
>1984
OK.
>Slaughterhouse 5
Good
>Catcher in the Rye
Get that shit out of my face. Terrible.
>Farenheit 451
Good
>Invisible Man
Great
>American Psycho
Shit
>The Great Gatsby
Great
>FALILV
Haven't read it
>Of Mice and Men
Good
>Dorian Grey
Shit
>Lolita
Masterpiece
>Lord of the Flies
Haven't read
>Androids
Haven't read. Don't intend on reading.
>Huckleberry Finn
Good
>Siddhartha
Dropped as soon as the pretentious sentence structure repeated itself for 90th time.

>shit. dropped it as soon as I saw all the made-up words.

Yeah, but read Steppenwolf instead of Siddhartha

>dropped siddhartha

Can we please settle once and for all that BEE is a terrible writer? Idk how he got famous. His works are unreadable. And I’m not a DFW fanboy.

Damn I hate that I agree with this guy when he’s not being a dumbass. Good job.

Good list for middle school.

Yes

Clockwork Orange was better than I thought it would be, a real horrorshow ma brother, made me laugh af

Well most people blindly support the state in things possibly leading to sdraconian future, censorship or think joy is the goal of life.

Everyone should read 1984, Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451.

It's not really about importance so much as them being really easy to analyze and interpret, so they're good for beginners to hone their critical skills.

>Brave New World
It's ok.
>A Clockwork Orange
Haven't read it.
>To Kill a Mocking Bird
It's a good book, but extremely overrated.
>Catch-22
Excellent book.
>One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
It's alright.
>1984
A good book, but massively overrated and it gets namedropped so much nowadays that it makes me sick.
>Slaughter House Five
>The Catcher in the Rye
Haven't read them.
>Fahrenheit 451
I remember almost nothing, but I think I thought it was an alright book.
>Invisible Man
>American Psycho
Haven't read them.
>The Great Gatsby
A masterpiece.
>FALILV
Haven't read it, watched the movie adaptation (which was shit).
>Of Mice and Men
It's great, but way too short and Steinbeck has way better stuff in his opus.
>The Picture of Dorian Grey
A solid book, but overrated.
>Lolita
Top tier wordplay and there are some really engaging scenes, but some segments can feel too stretched out.
>Lord of the Flies
It's alright.
>Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Haven't read it.
>The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
A solid book, I also think it's better than Tom Sawyer.
>Siddhartha
It's shit.

Is it worth a read even though I've seen the Kubrick adaptation?

Fahrenheit 451 is more interesting in its message than as an actual story.
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is similar. Its also too short to really be great. Needed to be longer to really explore its themes.

>shit. dropped it as soon as I saw all the made-up words.
Ok brainlet

Are these any better?
