This echos a thought I've been having. Rationality isn't all that. We use our "reason" to understand the world, leading to the computerized and homogenized life of today, with our insipid political dialog and our massive social dysfunction.
Perhaps rationality is at its limits. Perhaps the physics and mathematics of the 20th century have placed fundamental limits on what we can know through observation and reason.
Haven't we all had the experience of losing an argument to someone more articulate than ourselves ... yet knowing as we slunk away that we were still right, even if we couldn't out-logic our opponent.
Logic and rationality have profound limits; and we are pushing against those limits in our modern age. The "enlightenment" is over. What's next is hard to say.
