Ron McDurser's new book McMindfulness examines how spiritual practices and self-care became tools for corporate compliance.
McMindfulness is a very unregulated industry. It’s sending individuals a message that they are the problem, they need to be calm, and they need to regulate.
McMindfulness has become a banal form of capitalist spirituality that mindlessly avoids social and political transformation to reinforce the neoliberal status quo.
Corporations, schools, governments and the military have co-opted it as technique for social control and self-pacification.
The masses are brainfucked anyway - who cares what sort of cock does the fucking?
Evan Bennett
I'm glad that lots of other people are seeing past the McMindfulness bullshit. Once I started concentration meditation out of this old book, I experienced lots of positives that help me with my bullshit job and dealing with the scumbags that inhabit society, sure. But nobody talks about the negatives, like getting so filled with lust that you want to start screwing hookers, or the random siddhis that pop up that make you think that you're going insane. What about giving up drugs so you can meditate more, then the meditation becomes an addiction in itself? Meditation is unironically dangerous.
Jason Jones
Do you have a teacher in meditation?
I’ve been having this weird background of anxiety in my life, even with nothing bad happening I’m anxious, and I want to be rid of it and I’m hoping meditation can be the answer
Jonathan Mitchell
lol. cue the complaints as if youre screaming at a mcdonalds manager for the happymeal not making you happy. you did this to yourself morons. the spiritual path isnt some pharmadvertmercial, what you get is what you put into it. your approach is your demise. something something have sex. making sense possibly
Juan White
No, I read old books only and refuse to trust any self proclaimed guru. Most organized groups for meditation and 'spirituality' are money schemes, brainwashing cults, or sex cults. Usually all 3, and the more successful they are the more likely it is. Work alone.
Alexander Johnson
>Meditation is unironically dangerous.
I become aware of how much I desire intimate human interaction. Porn is a piss-poor proxy and becomes a comedy show of errors.
Then I went looking for some Pranayama and got higher than I've ever been.
>it's other people's job to look out for my happiness
Luke King
The irony is, every major religion is antithetical to Capitalism, especially Buddhism which teaches what causes suffering and how to end it. If every religious person were to actually sit down and read their respective scriptures and review their doctrines for 5 minutes, they would come to this obvious conclusion, and unite to destroy Capitalism. Start with Rene Guenon and Julius Evola.
Tyler Hill
I don't want to fill Ron's purse so I won't buy his book from his publisher. Maybe I'll buy it used in 18 months for a dollar.
Why Corporations Want You to Shut Up and Meditate Ron Purser’s new book McMindfulness examines how spiritual practices and self-care became tools for corporate compliance. By Zachary Siegel
Thats the issue. At it's core, what is the difference between getting high with meditation and getting high with a drug? Supposed liberation might entail Bliss and happiness like that, but are you any better than the average scumbag for it?
Jeremiah Thompson
If you are using meditation as a cope, you will only fuck your shit up further. >"The Yogasikha Upanishad teaches that neither yoga nor knowledge by themselves lead to emancipation, but both should be practiced. But meditation and yogic exercises practiced merely for the relief of the tremendous tensions of modern life but divorced from their spiritual background, are ultimately more dangerous than helpful since they give temporary relief which imparts a false sense of security but fail to deal with the root of the trouble, spiritual malaise, merely enabling people to live with their illusions instead of curing them."
Cameron Turner
The commodification of the agent of "highness delivery" ... if you buy the drug someone gets paid.
What's the difference between foraging for food (the cost is your time) versus buying a HappyMeal (the cost is your time exchanged for a fiat bio-survival ticket to exchange for food-like products).
>merely enabling people to live with their illusions instead of curing them
Fostering the illusion further to make it more grandiose!
Brother this thread is to discuss various trappings in meditation and spiritual practices, not to get people riled up with commie propaganda
Bentley Morgan
What do you mean by destroying capitalism, abolishing private property? What good would that do?
Michael Williams
yeah stfu about your exploited oats brother. your clever critique theory is just as resold as seasonal mcribs.
David Butler
>Brother this thread is to discuss various trappings in meditation and spiritual practices, not to get people riled up with commie propaganda
The eBook provides examples of the silliness involved with "mindfulness/meditation". It's a self aware exercise in not taking personal responsibility and being mindful without the added entertainment and distractions.
because like bernhard once said, everything becomes ridiculous in the face of death. one life on this planet and you spend it filling the coffers of your masters.
I wish I could communicate to you the magnitude of this farce. You have no idea what demons we're feeding. There is a debt that isn't just financial.
are you the one, from a similar thread a while back, who said that the suffering of animals is building an inexorable karmic debt?
Robert Smith
I am not, but that user said what I'd been intuiting for a long time now. He's right.
Joseph Bell
>I wish I could communicate to you the magnitude of this farce. You have no idea what demons we're feeding. There is a debt that isn't just financial. Not who you responded to, but I would like to hear how irredeemably fucked we all are.
Samuel Moore
hi ron
William Gomez
Religions that teach meditation always teach its dangers too, that's why a teacher is necessary.
what can I say? our masters are eating the planet alive while we run the laps in the void to heat their homes and feed, grow, and clothe our young for their consumption. there isn't a single decent person on this planet who wouldn't roll up their sleeves and get to work if we were doing great things, but we're not, just feeding a stomach like a black hole.
and when they discard this world like a chicken bone they'll move on to another. everything beautiful and worth fighting for is dying. corporations are appetites given flesh and lobbyists. technology is either opening ahriman's Gate or just solving the problem the entire capitalist infrastructure is creating to produce that technology in the first place.
it's every man for himself, but this time with a smiley face. look up energy dynamics, EROI ratios, system theory, read Perlman's Leviathan, to understand this Worm that is digesting you and your genetic stock like a lipid cell.
I'm not saying nature is paradise but it was real, and what is real will always be what is human. I would have rather died at 30 from a scratch as the redditors like to say with my finger on the pulse of a world-spirit than 70 lost in the funhouse of simulacra. it's over. if you're not at the top you languish at the bottom. and I haven't even gotten into Hegel. hth.
You can find a more reasonably priced hardcopy from anywhere else then the one Amazon is offering, or you can get the ebook here: mega.nz/#F!4pEmgaBS!IR5WhM6ZRu5PnRR5XVfcVQ
From the thumbnail, that pic looks like a nappyheaded niggress.

Judging books by covers is so booktube
Better than the original?
Austin Ross
Learn breathing exercises and address dietary deficiencies not meditation. The breathing can calm quickly any anxiety. Same for "grounding" exercises such as putting bare feet in cold water or on the ground - literally grounding yourself like an electrical grounding. The opposite of meditation where you 'float' which can make any disorder worse.
Henry Powell
to add on dietary problems. Get enough minerals potassium and magnesium in particular. people knock homeopathic substances but I found them good. Or take electrolyte powder, bananas, nuts, meat.
Bentley Brown
The writing is pretty crap desu.
Nathan Scott
>random siddhis that pop up have you randomly started flying yet or read other people's minds
Xavier Garcia
going from neoliberalism to communism. No thanks. As if "social change" will do a fucking thing either. A person cannot truly debunk the mindfullness movement unless well versed in the esoteric. this author is not.
Brayden Thompson
Using "Mindfulness" to encourage Employees to better exploit themselves in service of the Employer to grow the profits of the Corporation thru means of doublespeak and Enjoying the HappyMeal makes for fun reading, yes!
(Different user) I used to do both. But then something, kinda creepy, happened and I backed off. I feel like I was getting close to bring able to walk through walls though.
Michael Taylor
That line you highlighted is a great line. It's like we're teaching people to grease their own hinges. God I'm so tired
Andrew Wilson
>Civic responsibility >collective mindfulness The ten thousand things are one horse. What do other people have to do with it?
Ian Rogers
did mara molest you and discourage you from getting more siddhis and primordial wisdom
Thomas Young
""Endlessly working at self-improvement resembles the self-examination and self-monitoring of Protestanism, which represents a technology of subjectivation and domination in its own right. Now, instead of searching out sins, one hunts down negative thoughts.""
The problem is not the work environment, the long hours, the micro managing middle managers, the impossible deadlines, the allegiance to the Company, or any other non-sense. The problem is my own thoughts and ungratefulness towards my employer.
>unless well versed in the esoteric
The author has a citation and a quote for everything and, perhaps, no original thought.
Only the latter, and I'm not sure who/what it was, but basically yes. Also at the same time a girlfriend appeared. Later on it became clear she was dangerous and sent to distract me. But it worked and now I am content to observe this life as it plays out. No more siddhis for me. Except maybe keeping an enduring awareness through the length of many lives.
Adam Cruz
just like those /x/ posts
Logan Adams
Oh, are there similar /x/ posts? I've never really gone over there. Did you save any? How do they usually end?
Zachary Moore
>blaming capitalism >not realizing that the normie masses will always reduce everything to meaningless platitudes regardless of the dominant economic system
Camden Wright
yeah /x/ is full of schizo posts like this because they're all made up
Adrian Taylor
>t. never flown You should comport yourself more usefully.
Brody Carter
This is why esoteric teachings should always be withheld from the public no matter what. They will always corrupt the truth and make it more obscure with their misguided interpretations, like finding a physical Elixir of Immortality or Philosopher's Stone. The truth can only be transmitted orally, and writing them down is always a mistake. Seriously, what were the disciples who wrote down everything the Buddha said when they were following him around thinking?
Joseph Long
>what were the disciples who wrote down everything the Buddha said when they were following him around thinking?
I can publish his words, sell the book, and people will give me gold!
Jonathan Jenkins
well buddha does come back again so why worry fren
Jacob Long
Actual flying? No. Astral projecting and floating out of my body? Yeah. Occasionally I can read intents before people even know what they're going to do, although I don't know how much I can attribute this to siddhis.
