Kindle/Ereader stuff

I just got a kindle, and am looking for educational, classics, the books everyone should read.

Free is best, but if there's a "streaming service" type deal that's better than amazon let me know.

So I guess, let's have an ebook/ereader resources discussion.

babbys first ereader huh. we all started our lit journy by getting a ereader and then loading it up with the classics, only to read 3 paragraphs and go back to world of warfract

just search “lit Yea Forums reccomendations” or something, its all the circlejerked books that are unironically good

moldy dick
crime and punishment
shennanigans wake
the holy bible
etc

thanks.

do you know of any websites that will let me download PDFs or epubs or whatever they are?

for me, theres somethint called archive org.

if the book i want is not available on there then i dont bother looking elswhere as its probably illegitimate.

libgen.io

For converting, collecting, etc. use calibre

You almost always want epub if you have the choice.
PDF fixes page size, font, etc. which makes it a pain to read on these devices.

He's got a Kindle so he'll be wanting to look for mobi. No big deal if it can't be found but certainly getting what you want in the format you want from the get go is obviously easier than having to convert it afterwards.

Okay, I never owned a kindle, can you just convert epub to mobi?
Because, as far as I am aware, if you want to find ebooks online epubs are far easier to find.

You can convert them back and forth without any issue generally.

And yeah fair enough, was just sayin'. Most shit isn't particularly difficult to find in mobi assuming it isn't some obscure dead philosopher.

Just use calibre to sideload books unless you want to support an author. Enjoy. I never thought I'd like my Voyage as much as I do, the screen looks just like real paper. Great little device

Based of all based posts.
Libgen is where it's at.
Sci-hub for science articles and shit.

lick my balls

i used to use an kindle paperwhite until i lost the charger, I remember i was pretty dissatisfied with the selection of books i was able to acquire with the exception of Great Expectations which I got for free through amazon and Shakespeare's Complete Plays which I also got for free through amazon.

gutenberg.org is another one

b-ok.org

you can optimize pdfs with k2pdfopt

1. Download ebook converter/manager (calibre)

2. Go to Library Genesis and download whatever book you want, in whatever format you want (e.g. pdf, EPUB, etc.)

3. Use calibre to convert said file to whatever format is compatible with your device.

4. use calibre to customize the book to your liking (i.e. book cover/metadata)

5. enjoy never buying a book again.

My library is thousands rn.

>lost the charger
it's a mini usb are you really that lazy
>only looking at free shit on amazon
yes you are

Kindle is a shitty ereader. It shows you ads and tracks everything you do. If you can jailbreak the fucker, load it up with .epubs. All other formats are shit.

Just installed KOReader on my Kobo Aura HD and it's great for reading PDFs (since it can resize them and keep the zoom level unlike default Kobo software).
One problem I have with KOReader though is that while the screen refreshes without problems when going through pages, it will never refresh when going through settings menu so it sometimes becomes very hard to see what the settings are. Any idea on how to solve this?

download anything you want or need for free from b-ok.org and libgen.io, install calibre for the times where you need to convert from epub to mobi and for syncing your library with kindle in general. I have kindle and thanks to b-ok and libgen I didn't need to pay for any book yet.
