Scared To Death by Anthony Horowitz

thanks for the recs my dudes

have you guys read S. Craig Zahler?

Haven't had the chance to.

You should check him out, huge fan of his books (and movies too). I wouldn't call none of them straight up horror but they dip a bit to the genre. Highly recommend.

any horror books with/about wendigos?

Ithaqua cycle

>dude that made Bone Tomahawk
must be great stuff. What are his themes?

if you dig Bone Tomahawk you need to read A Congregation of Jackals and Wraiths of the Broken Land. They're his western books, not as much horror as Bone Tomahawk but they're very violent and his writing is brilliant, I've read most of his scripts and they're just like reading his books lmao

Langelaan's Fly is my favourite horror, if not the most favourite short story of all time.

>wendigos
Pet Sematary has one that isn't as prominent in the film adaptations.

Similarly, is there any horror novels featuring lamias? I would like to have a good snake woman horror novel for my collection.

I read this last year and loved it.

Tried reading the author's other novels and was disappointed by all of them.

Are any of Robert McCammon's books worth a read? I see his books at the used bookstore and I've seen a few people recommend Swan Song but dont know anything outside of that.

Are there any horror book where the MC eventually fucks the demon

Lovecraft's personal memoir

I don't like Stephen King

Anyone else read pic related? I'm surprised it isn't more popular here. Literary, clever, and disgusting.

Machen is the only one who managed to scare me as an adult.

None of my friends appreciate Smith's work. They call him copycat.

How do you rate books like The picture of Dorian Gray as horror?

That is profoundly stupid.

I read a YA one in junior high called bone chiller or something. Wasn’t very good, but it had a wendigo.

Dorian Gray fits squarely in the gothic tradition, which prefigured the aesthetic of 20th century horror fiction.

It’s horror for the exact same reason the Monkey’s Paw is horror. A supernatural force grants a man’s wish for eternal youth, but the weight of his sin is instead transferred to a portrait, which becomes a dark secret that haunts him throughout his entire life until it’s horror becomes to much to bare.

I love Laymon!

I do. Lots.

Starting this on Sunday. Heard many good things.

The Wendigo by Algernon Blackwood. Its absolutely based. Check it out.

The Terror... or is it?
