Let priests marry so they stop fucking kids. God made Eve for he saw that Adam should not be alone.

...and go to Hell. You didn't finish the sentence.

That's not why it happens, retard. Teachers still molest at higher rates and many of them are married.

And grow a fucking beard

>public pressures church to abolish clerical celibacy
lol
Jonathan Cruz
Yet Baptist "pastors" molest at higher rates despite being married. Almost like celibacy isn't to blame.
James Thompson
That requirement wasn't a sudden change. Most priests were celibate in Augustine's day too. They were supposed to model themselves after Christ.
Joshua Diaz
i'd better kiss one though
very sad to think no one actually loves them

I'm learning about Roman Catholicism now. I've decided to give it fair consideration before I start the process of becoming Orthodox.

being catholic is a majority orthodox country (ahem you guess which one) is actually very comfy, and i believe the opposite is true.
the major religion is usually the "default" and most people "follow" it a bit mindlessly, while the church tries to get into govt (here at least, and very agressively), followers of minority branches seem more aware and voluntary if it's the right term.
also, i prefer gothic over byzantine architecture and catholic aesthetic over orthodox
Matthew Turner
>Council of Trent, pg. 225: "If anyone saith that the marriage state is to be preferred before the state of virginity, let him be anathema." [...] "writing to the Corinthians, [Paul] says: I would that all men were even as myself; that is, that all embrace the virtue of continence...A life of continence is to be desired by all.”
>Pope Pius XII, Sacra Virginitas, no. 32: “This doctrine of the excellence of virginity and of celibacy and of their superiority over the married state was, as we have already said, revealed by our Divine Redeemer and by the Apostle of the Gentiles; so too, it was solemnly defined as a dogma of divine faith by the holy council of Trent, and explained in the same way by all the holy Fathers and Doctors of the Church."
>Saint Thomas Aquinas, ST II-II.152.4: "Virginity is more excellent than marriage, which can be seen by both faith and reason. Faith sees virginity as imitating the example of Christ and the counsel of St. Paul. Reason sees virginity as rightly ordering goods, preferring a Divine good to human goods, the good of the soul to the good of the body, and the good of the contemaplative life to that of the active life."
>Saint Alphonsus Liguori: The married state I cannot recommend to you, because St. Paul does not counsel it to any one, except there be a necessity for it, arising out of habitual incontinence
>Saint Athanasius of Alexandria, A.D. 373 †:"Now if a man choose the way of the world, namely marriage, he is not indeed to blame; yet he will not receive such great gifts as the other. For he will receive, since he too brings forth fruit, namely thirty fold. But if a man embraces the holy and unearthly way, even though as compared with the former it be rugged and hard to accomplish, nonetheless it has the more wonderful gifts: for it grows the perfect fruit, namely a hundredfold."
>Saint Cyprian of Carthage, A.D. 258 †: "But chastity maintains the first rank in virgins, the second in those who are continent (celibate), the third in the case of wedlock." [...] "While laws are prescribed to matrons ... virginity and continency are beyond all law; there is nothing in the laws of matrimony which pertains to virginity; for by its loftiness it transcends them all."
Brandon Rodriguez
but is virginity that much "better" than celibacy? i think it's overly praised, especially in women, while celibacy is thrown under the bus.
the mainstream notion seems to be "either you're a righteous virgin, or if not, you can sleep with anyone as it'll all sinful anyway". exaggerating of course, but it seems like it. as if God doesn't forgive mistakes one made and regretted and repented...
Caleb Scott
Hail arianism, destroy pagan polytheistic godless church destroying cunts. And fuck paedobaptism too
Jaxson Reed
Experience (and statistics) would show that you are permanently scarred after having sex
Joseph Wood
Agree. I think it's prioritization is mostly prescriptive counsel to avoid falling into sin in the first place. Augustine mentions something to this effect in Book 2 of his Confessions.
Luke Reed
Clerical celibacy only became strictly mandatory in Canon Law after the mass protests around 1000 AD. Before that it was seen as an optional bonus, even if marriage was frowned upon.
William Jenkins
do you have any links or examples? i haven't heard of this scarring
personally i was a bit obsessed with sex at 16, lost virginity at that same age and realized it's not that great. not worth entering a relationship(which i despise) at all. and "one-night-stands" just seem quite disgusting. i can say i decided to go celibate after that
Isaiah Morris
Jordan Walker
isn't it maybe because people who didn't have sex before marriage have a set worldview and live inside such circles where divorce is heavily frowned upon?
and those who don't value virginity before marriage are more accepting about it, thus it's easier for them to divorce.
it just doesn't seem like a direct correlation to me.
more like "people who reject premarital sex are more likely to reject divorce as well"
Colton Morris
>more like "people who reject premarital sex are more likely to reject divorce as well"
Well, yeah that's exactly what I'm saying
Camden Gomez
God loves them.
Ayden White
What books do you recommend to follow the path of catholicism to a degenerate like me that was atheist in his youth?
Luke Martinez
This graph is almost exactly the same in countries like Finland where literally nobody rejects premarital sex. Marriage is not as strong as it used to be, which means it's not that serious. Might as well get married if the sex feels good and then divorce after it doesn't anymore. The majority of marriages essentially break due to "lack of pleasure".
David Anderson
Ecclesiastes and Job, then move to the New testament
Orthodoxy - Chesterton
Confessions - Saint Augustine

Just what the Church needs, more cringeworthy tradcath Larpers
Owen Bell
Are there any other Christians on lit aside from larpers, baiters and that priest kink guy? Serious question.
Luis Gray
Kierkegaard — Fear and trembling (start there with him, certainly life changing book)
Church fathers like Saint Augustine (on the happy life, confessions, soliloquies...)
Saint John of the Cross works
Gerard Manley Hopkins poems
Teresa of Avila interior castle or way of perfection to learn how to pray
But I'd start with a Bible with good commentary, new testament specially
Noah Kelly
That guy is recent and stole the priest wojak. LARPers can still appreciate the church and be opposed to degenerates, like that idiot you mentioned.

i've shitposted on int for over a year, just rarely. haven't seen the priest wojack posted here often too.

in yurop i was almost always the youngest person in church even in bigger towns (16-17 at that time), quite often the only one below 40. comfy but a bit sad.

Jesus is Lord. I am a Christian. I want to stop posting here because people keep posting pornography here despite it being against the rules, though, and because my wrath is occasionally stoked and I lose my temper and go off on a certain type of poster.
Daniel Adams
Just hide porn threads or posts, brother.
> certain type of poster
Which one? I usually scroll by when I see rerarded shit, not worth my time to argue.
Aaron Price
Yeah, this year 3 kids did the first communion and on next Sunday no one came. They buy fancy clothes, gift themselves with a great feast and done. New catechism is very lax. Timor dei initium sapientæ concept is missing.

that's how the devil tries to get you to ignore the celebration

It was a demon. Tell your priest next time and he will forbid her from returning unless she is appropriately dressed.

I don't look at porn at all. Porn is totally illegal in the country I live in, and the state monitors internet traffic. I'm not complaining, since I agree with the law. I only browse worksafe boards on here because I'm so lonely without fellow English speakers to talk to. People spam filth on here so regularly, though, even though they're not supposed to. I ignore all rules-breaking posts, don't click on the thumbnails, hide the posts, and used to report them to the mods, but how could I explain all that to the police?
I got permabanned from there for discussing spiritual warfare.

kek, here in moscow we also allow anyone (despite formal rules), you can often see girls in above-knee skirts or with half their tits out. in orthodox churches though they go batshit about women with uncovered heads
t. also been in catholic youth group with a girl who wore gothic dresses, lacey and almost see-through
Angel Flores
> Porn is totally illegal in the country I live in
sounds like a dictatorship, is it really that strict? some kind of islamic state? can't think of anything else, especially considering there are no english speakers.
>since I agree with the law.
bootlicking is not really christian. forced "righteousness" is quite worthless.
Jason Thomas
I don't know which church is correct right now. I read about a lot of protestants who were converting to the Orthodox church but many of them said they didn't learn enough about Roman Catholicism before making that choice.
Michael Brooks
you're already a great deal more aware of your faith than most people, keep it up. doubt is natural, it's the part of your progress.
and remember you're still a christian and God loves you even if you're not formally a member of any certain church right now. at least i believe so.

It would be infinitely easier to furtively fuck escorts. People fuck kids for other reasons than celibacy
Jaxson Watson
Been feeling very convicted lately, like I'm finally realizing the gravity of my past and present trespasses. I've tried to live a righteous life but I've failed frequently and tremendously. I've been in a spiritual wilderness for years and have often felt abandoned by God, even though I know any distance between us is my fault. The only thing I can think of is to be confirmed Orthodox. I really want to take part in Confession and Communion, as I presently lack both accountability and fellowship. Pray for me bros.
>writing to the Corinthians, [Paul]
... gives his opinion, and even states that it's not authoritative
>the good of the contemplative life to that of the active life
as far as I can tell, Jesus and the apostles led quite active lives; I'd wager this is a conceit Aquinas picked up from ancient philosophy.
