>Read Schopenhauer, Stirner, the Stoics, Nietzsche, Ted Kaczynski and half a dozen other thinkers
>Think they all make great arguments and provide good frameworks for living
>Procede to ignore them all and stick to my life of junk food binging, alcoholism and playing video games and watching anime all day as escapism because the only people I like are the ones in my games and anime
How do I escape from this?
Read Schopenhauer, Stirner, the Stoics, Nietzsche, Ted Kaczynski and half a dozen other thinkers
Bible
Religious texts except the abrahamic ones (torah, tanakh, talmud, christian bible, quran). You're welcome.

Start reading books by Manfred Spitzer about the dangers of digital stuff, start making changes/cutting down on your use of said stuff.
Congratz op. You discovered that knowing what is right and acting accordingly are two very different things. Now you need to kick your bad habits. Then you will understand that even then it will not be enough, and that not doing what is wrong is not sufficient, you must also do what is right. Then you start doing what is right. Then you feel good and you will realize changing was worth it.
pretend you're having a religious experience. Go cold turkey on all your vices, and try to relish in the few days (up to one week) of boredom and anguish. Every time you wanna say "fuck this" and pick up one of your comforts, try to catch yourself - the emotions that your actions are motived by come from the space they've carved in your brain, not by your own free will.
Have some productive activities you can do, such as reading the works you mentioned. You can do that if you're bored and are looking for intellectual stimulation, but don't feel about just doing nothing instead. Literally doing nothing is a better move than continuing to strengthen your rotten loops
How did you not get bored of these things by the age of 20? I used to be a lazy idiot in high school, but ever since graduating, I can't take a week of not being productive without losing my mind.
First, you haven't read any of them, only read what other people on this board think of them, which is not the same thing. Second, read Schopenhauer. You can't change who you are. All the reading in the world can't do that.
Based. Commit suicide too.
>The only people I like are the ones in my games and anime
I feel you OP.
Wait i didn't notice that you mentioned Schopenhauer. Well there you have it. If you actually read him you would've known that you can't change who you are, that you're born with innate traits you can never get rid of.
>Schopenhauer. Well there you have it. If you actually read him you would've known that you can't change who you are, that you're born with innate traits you can never get rid of
Wow, that's the biggest cope I've ever encountered.
>kaczynski
>makes a great argument
yeah youre a literal retard, he's exactly what reading sociological opinions from a man who studied maths his entire life would sound like, he's only famous because of the terrorism and without that would have been cast off into obscurity
>If you read someone you have to agree with everything they say
Go to the gym and get a job doing something fulfilling.
he doesn't need to change his inner traits, his problems are all environmental addictions. If he just goes on a 10-day vipassana, or to africa with the peace corps, it might put enough of a space between his desires and his automatic pavlovian fulfilment of them that he can find a bit of seriousness and self-respect again
>he's exactly what reading sociological opinions from a man who studied maths his entire life would sound like
why does everybody conveniently forget that uncle ted was brainwashed by the government?
No a single post itt is correct.
Totally fine if you want to live this escapist life; in many ways it seems so much greater than if you got up and took any of the other advices itt.
I don't blame you OP, and don't think you should have to change.
hey I like your post.
He's obviously not happy, you fucking moron. He can feel there's more to life that he's missing out on, because of his nature. Jesus, the "bee yourself" morons needs to be lined against a wall and shot.
*is the best dystopian novel*
There are millions of productive people out there that are as exposed to distractions as he is. Why and how they avoid addiction while he doesn't? You can't put it all on the environment when more successful people are equally subject to it.
>There are millions of productive people out there that are as exposed to distractions as he is. Why and how they avoid addiction while he doesn't?
They read the Bible? I've already posted the correct answer.
Do away with the mystics and nihilists and you'll be fine
>He's obviously not happy
(x) doubt
He made this thread, for starters.
so? you have never done anything, you later on regretted ever starting?
This.
shut the fuck up already christard
books are unironically worthless. the only way you can change is through forced action self discipline and self punishment. Give your pc and phone away for a month. Whenever you start consuming alcohol or junk food violently throw them away in a moment of clarity. Remember your solitude is a choice and your image of people is unfair ,especially since you're one of them.
You only read the iconoclasts and skipped the source material. Unironically read the bible and Aristotles on ethics.
It also sounds like you turned yourself into a victim, very common among millenials.
There definitely is a genetic component. Being prone to addiction is actually a benefit in an environment that isn't filled with artificial and fake rewards that can latch on to your motivation centres in lieu of real rewards.
But environment definitely has a huge impact on whether someone will turn out to be a productive member of society, or OP. If you get proper guidance and encourage when you're young, and you manage to achieve some small successes in real endeavours, it becomes much easier move on from these simple loops
Otoh if you're low serotonin from lack of social support (sometimes but not always your fault, could be due to circumstance) and as your serotonin continues to fall as you transition from childhood to adulthood, it becomes much easier to settle into these kinda habits. Kinda like the vietnam vets who had social support not staying hooked on dope
>How do I escape from this?
You don´t escape life, famalam
My waifu disagrees
LARP
Interested in knowing more about this
>Ted Kaczynski
i'm so tired
Existentialism says "Hello!
>OP: "How do I escape this?"
>(You): Oh, he is happy.
Stop reading miserable spergs and read Vonnegut instead
Quantum Mechanics prove pessimist right. There's no escape.
elaborate
Memeing aside, you already got the basics and concepts, you just have to learn to implement them. Personally for me, what helped was going. Semi-ascetic for a while. Doing a labor job with only a Nokia phone and the cloths on my back, cold turkey modern niceties because they tempt me. Afterwards I had better control.
Personally I am a reader of early modern religious/philosophical texts, from Descate to Hegel and Moby Dick.
>you turned yourself into a victim, very common among millenials.
Why is this?
Read less, do more. Knowledge is great, but reading can be its own escapism where you can wallow in the idea of improving yourself instead of actually doing something. Sometimes what you need is to close the books and join a gym or something like that.
fpbp
>do more
Are you retarded?
He is doing things, jsut not """"""""""""""""""""right"""""""""""""" things.
fpwp
just b urself, worked for me
You might not be that complicated
Go to church nigga
I quit a lot of things cold turkey
I just got tired of being dependent on things and desired freedom
The last time i had fast food was 2 months ago
I literally cook only now
Also i fast frequently, and take walks
Lost so much weight
No downsides. I only kick myself for not doing it sooner.
In two years i will look at photos of my self from 5 years ago and wonder why i remained like that.
You can read as much as you want, but the body is just as important of a calling.
He does say that, but he also says your trained intellect can help shine a light on who you really are. Op isn’t born with innate traits to watch anime and play games. He may be born and bred and in his early-forming years weaned on laziness, but there’s hope for OP.
Fuckin amen
