Yes. It was great on my first read. Re-read it a year later and it was mediocre.

Physical copy of this is like 500 dollardoos

30 bucks on amazon. Still expensive for a 200 page paperback.

What made it mediocre re-readin it?

A read a translated version.

I personally think the light novel is the best version of the story because it is more dark and realistic and the story is more about a guy in his room loosing his mind rather than it being a comedy recovery story like with the anime. Some other differences between the book and anime include Yamazaki in the anime he is an otaku college student in the book hes a hikikomori too just like Satou Satous drug usage in the anime he just smokes and occasionally drinks and he talks to his furniture because he has schizophrenia however in the book its because hes high on drugs and he also is an alcoholic too in the anime Satou gets addicted to 2D lolicon porn but in the book its real child porn in the anime Satous crush Hitomi is a major character in the series in the book she is only brought up once or twice in the anime they only reference the actual NHK TV company once in the anime in the book that is part of the whole story and of course Misaki does not play a major role in the book unlike in the anime just some key differences.

It's way better than the anime, let alone manga. I'd love to read the original text instead of translation, but Japanese texts are notoriously hard to find on the internet.

Thanks for this
Shipping is 18 bucks for third worlds, still gonna pass
Any site that sells 2nd hand books without anal international fees?
Abe is like 5 dollardoos a book so I might as well buy em new

Any other books like this? Sounds like me except the drug part.

it is my life

>it is my life

Same here.

>Sounds like me except the drug part.

So you're a depressed socially awkward and paranoid alcoholic pedophile hikikomori neet?

I don´t think i liked it. There are somethings that were supossed to be funny, but was just boring (like every damn part about the erotic game). I think the development of the characters wasn´t that good, and i really dind´t care about the relationship between the girl and and main character.

Yeah, mediocre at best, for me. The manga is good, tho. Not great, but good.

The anime sucked except for the first episode. Sounds like the book might be marginally better.

No, alcohol counts as a drug :)

Yes. Certain segments are tedious but most of it is pretty neat and makes for great literature because of the honesty on the part of the writer.

The adaptations ruin the vital theme of loneliness in the novel by having him relate to the girl. It's quite obvious that the author didn't intend for Satou to connect with any character on a personal level in his original vision.

Read it in the original Japanese, anyway.

Another thing, the MC is very clearly the alter ego of the writer. He's very self-aware as shown in the beginning of the novel but fails to break out of his self-destructive habits until the end, kind of like Gallo in Buffalo '66, which is actually referenced at one point.

>No, alcohol counts as a drug :)

So you're all those other things though?

Not him, but I am.
