I used to read a lot as a child, like A LOT. I want to start reading all the time again but I seem to lack the psychological discipline to engage in extended periods of focus.
Wat do?
stop masturbating
I have about 5 or 6 unfinished books in my closet, and I feel sort of overwhelmed. How could I ease into reading as a lifestyle again?

I'm the manta ray profile created in the negative space between the two Adam's apples
my goal this summer lads is to read at my local library (extremely beautiful building too, best library for miles around) twice a week for an extended period.
I became an avid reader like three months ago and I can't stop. I stopped watching tv and I don't spend much time on Yea Forums anymore.
Here's how I did it.
-Remember the average person reads like zero books a year. If you read 5 pages a day, you are 5 pages above the average person
-Don't force yourself to read. Commit to read 5 pages a day. I swear after three days you'll feel like reading more and after a month or so you should be reading 50-100 pages a day for pleasure
-Read various books at the same time. When I grab a difficult book or one that makes me sleepy I grab another and switch. This should refresh your head. Keep them thematically different. I read economics and fiction.
-It isn't a race. Reading slowly won't make you sleepy that fast. Try to acknowledge what books are for you to read fast and which aren't.
-Buy the physical copies. When you get the books from your own money you'll feel the need to read them to avoid the feel of wasting your money.
-Start with books highly discussed here so you feel motivated to discuss.
OP, listen to copypasta-man over here, it's literally all the good advice you can get.
Literally this. Whenever I masturbate in the morning I end up wasting most of the day.
>everything isn't predetermined
I have zero discipline and just do whatever I want all day. This actually leads to a lot of reading as I like reading and I only do what I like. I would encourage you to do the same and to ignore the mindset memes.
Mindset is just that, a thing you set. I worshipped narcissists during most of my youth and strived to reach a point where I’d get a god complex which might have lead to my interests and joys in life being all related to things furthering my goals, perhaps you can try the same by telling yourself that you as an actor aware of this fact can choose to make decisions that help you further yourself towards your goals
Reading is not virtue, there is no objective good. You can read those books and spent all your energy and time for a month or two on reading six books or you can work towards what you really care about, being smarter, or more competent, or whatever you think those books will magically give you while you have no interest in them.
Get a girl to fuck
