Look at the picture you posted.

Absolutely.

How old was he at this picture?

By not giving up.
By facing the consequences of your actions like a man.

A balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine.

honestly it's not that impressive since he was like 5'2'' but the fact that he got swole at 30 makes up for it

I'd fuck him too to be honest

>In 1955, Mishima took up weight training and his workout regimen of three sessions per week was not disrupted for the final 15 years of his life. In his 1968 essay Sun and Steel[21], Mishima deplored the emphasis given by intellectuals to the mind over the body

Well Yea Forums?

post body

He's right.

>Mishima deplored the emphasis given by intellectuals to the mind over the body
>kills himself

This is more of a question for fit

cardio and calisthenics are the thinking man's exercises

...

By overcoming your effeminate side and facing glorious destiny like a fucking man.

Well it is statistically proven that regular exercise makes you smarter, so he was completely right.

The answer is in your first picture idiot. He lifted things.

/fitlit/ when?

was a thing but was just a meme
should be an official general but i doubt it would stay alive

I don't feel like making a thread for this, so:
What should I read in order to get motivated to start lifting? I struggle between following gnosticism and asceticism(as in, absolute and utter indifference over the physical world and its products), or the platonic idea of the body as a musical instrument and the soul as it's music. Is Mishima good?

>inb4 if you don't want it you shouldn't even try and things of this kind

>Mishima deplored the emphasis given by intellectuals to the mind over the body
not only are the japanese honorary aryans, they're honorary ancient greeks as well

Sun and Steel helped me kick start my /fit/ lifestyle. Also, fuck motivation. Motivation comes and goes, the important thing is discipline.

>Also, fuck motivation. Motivation comes and goes, the important thing is discipline.

I agree. What I meant to say was that I need something to give purpose to lifting. I went to the gym a few years ago(and for a long time, with great results), but the only reason I lifted was just to look good, and to be able to defend myself if the situation demands it. Those reasons are not good enough to justify a lifestyle. (Mainly because both of those things can be fixed by carrying a knife and good hygiene lmao)

God I miss fitlit

If Plato works for you, you can take the quasi-(neo)-Platonic stance which indicates that while the Form of Forms remains the highest Good, if not the divine, that which emanates from it contain aspects of the Good. Thus, even though the Body is the shadow of the Soul, that Shadow is not evil in and of itself. Rather, focusing on the Body allows you to understand aspects of the Good. Strength in the Body will contribute to strength in the Soul.

Otherwise, flip through Diongenes Laertius. The man claims that Plato was ripped af, and actually competed and won in the Olympics for Pankraton.
