There is not much more to say aside from this.

I think the South Park episode about his books and tv show perfectly nailed it. In his book there's constant plot devices looming but they never come to pass. His story is basically just a glorified soap opera set in a fantasy medievel setting.

Because he procrastinates, but is successful all the same. Most people procrastinate instead of working hard to make it and he gives them hope.

Martin offers an answer to the sublime crisis of modern liberalism: The promise of a cynical and materialistic answer to Lord of the Rings.

He offers, in essence, purpose and meaning to a generation that no longer venerates beauty and truth, but only power and consumption. So desperate is the modern unread man for meaning, that he will fling himself at any boot and lick it for even the chance to achieve some small measure of meaning in his hollow materialistic life.

But alas, there is none to be found there, because George R.R. Martin is a childish atheist with liberal sensibilities and no belief in anything higher than his own bugman consumerism. This is a man whose entire life's work has been subordinated to niggercollision, or, as some people call it these days, "Football." He is a childless degenerate with no real higher beliefs or values beyond his own fear of death and his vague dislike of war unless someone else has to fight it for him.

Can anyone even feign surprise that this man cannot provide a satisfactory end to his own story? The story which, by all accounts, is his magnum opus? How does one end a fantasy epic when one does not believe in truth, virtue, or any goodness more profound than a gay pride parade?

His fans are desperate and adrift in a sea of modernism, and like the Jew that he genetically is, Martin threw them an anchor instead of a life preserver. Down they will be dragged into the depths of the hideous ocean of ipads and bedazzled sandles and marijuana that people like him have created, and there they will be crushed by the pressure of modernity, denied anything even resembling truth, beauty, love, virtue, glory, faith, or purpose.

ASOIAF is in fact the perfect allegory for the modern age. A great pretense of answers and meaning, but a vacuum of actual substance. Not merely an anticlimax, but the total absence of completion.
