depends on
a. how soon you die
b. what else you do with your time

Zero.

>I'm 18 now
You should have already read a lot

How many books have you read so far?
That is your lifetime, and there is your answer.

I'm going to college next year, and I also spend my time with music.
I started at 16, but I've read like 50 books, most of them entry level.

By 16 i had already started with the greeks, marx and nietzsche. Hurry up, buddy!

If you read 30 pages a day every day, you'll read 900 pages in a month (that's enough to finish The Brothers Karamazov).
In a year, you'll read 10950 pages. That's enough to finish an entire Yea Forums chart.
If you're 18 now, by 2049 you will read 328.500 pages.

There's no excuse, user. 1 page per minute is being modest, and only 30 minutes per day isn't a big deal. You can do it, we believe in you!

>not starting with the sumerians

Honestly, make a list of the top 10 books you want to read and sum the number of pages and you'll realize how much you can accomplish by just reading at a snails pace.

But how many threads one can read in a lifetime?

1. It depends on your speed and commitment
2. Quality is more important than quantity (just having read 100 major works takes you further than having read 10,000 okay-ish books)
3. Re-reading is more important than reading
4. Other people ITT made good points too

lmao its not a race

It's never about the number, it's about quality. And you can read lots of good books.

You are a total fag

The average life expectancy is 76 for males. So you have 58 more years of living ahead of you.

Let’s say you, on average, read 20 pages a day. That’s 7,300 pages a year.

So that means you’ll read 423,400 pages in your life.

The average book is around 350 pages. Which means you have 1,209 books left to read.

If you read 100 pages a day, you could read 100 books (350 page average) a year. This would require about an 1.5-2 hours of reading every single day - easily doable I think.

>nb4 nobody gets the reference

This, and any book which can truly said to be good should be read more than once.

If you collect disability and do nothing other than read, 80k books in a life time if you don't fall to bad habits like PMO, alcohol or weed.

Hopefully none, starting from now. Run away from this putrid hole, OP, you're young, there's still time!

Doesn't matter

You could read the western canon if you start yesterday.

Son, you ain't even done the prologue of The Book of Life, published by the fine folks over at The School of Hard Knocks.
