My only complaint with philosophers is that they love using big words in order to make them appear smart and obfuscate what they mean. A true mark of intelligence is being able to explain a complex concept well enough that an idiot can understand it. If you need to write a +500 book about it then you don't know enough about the subject.

I think it's meant to filter out the retards so that the only people coming back at you with counter arguments are people who probably are at least somewhat intelligent. But there are a huge amount of philosophers who love the smell of their own farts though.

Pretentious pseuds belong on plebbit. You would fit right in

>I think it's meant to filter out the retards so that the only people coming back at you with counter arguments are people who probably are at least somewhat intelligent.

This doesn't work people people just simplify their ideas into 10 minute youtube videos anyway. Then people base their arguments on that and then think they've won without actually reading the philosopher.

Wait, do you really believe that length of articulation implies a lack of comprehension? What a bizarre idea!

>The thing in itself is "esoteric bullshit"

it implies that the speaker is more interested in the sound of his own voice than the enlightenment of others

The thing-in-itself is not esoteric, it is an academic concept. Esoteric means secrets only taught to initiates.

t. people not willing to put in work to try and understand language in what is literally an exercise in language.

Does it?

I'm not denying it doesn't make sense, but it's a fucking worthless observation. Even more than most philosophical observations. And he takes 5000 words to say "human perception isn't objective".

>those trips

Absolutely esoteric, I didnt get synchromysticism til now. Thanks user

You have to prove it and it was palatable to the general public in his time

How did you come to that conclusion?

>understanding hegel is reddit™

This. My phil prof on plato started talking about "chairness" and I got up and walked out. I'm not paying money to learn useless bullshit

based Diogenes

Being intelligent means having the ability to properly understand something to the point that you can summarize it in a few words. Writing a +500 about it means that you either don't know enough on the subject or that you are engaging in mental masturbation
>look at me I'm so smart because I use big words I barely understand incorrectly the masses will never understand AUGH YEAH I'M SO SMART I'M GOING TO CUM

It's talking about concepts aren't material user

>philosopher starts using logic
Motherfucker I will punch you in the face if you don't just answer the question you stupid fuck, why would I need all this explanation, nobody cares nerd

So by that logic all textbooks are obscurantist because they have hundreds of pages of material. Why aren't textbooks written on postcards instead?

>there's no such thing as a complex idea

The absolute state, summers here boys

Lol another pleb filtered hard

>I don't understand it therefore it's wrong.
state of Yea Forums.

>explain it simply, not using the specialized vocabulary
>also explain it quickly, not taking up hundreds of pages

the specialized vocabulary is, ideally, there to save time and talk about the subject more efficiently. with well defined terms referring to hard to articulate concepts you can say in a page what would take 10 pages in common speech. there are lots of good introductory books that teach you the terms, there's no reason for you to dive right into primary sources

I understand it, it's usually correct, but it's fucking gay and lame so stop doing it faggot.

>A true mark of intelligence is being able to explain a complex concept well enough that an idiot can understand it
Wrong

Also philosphers don´t want to communicate with idiots, who don´t commit themselves to it with passion. View it as a selection mechanism

ok

Books for general reading always smell bad; the odor of common people hangs around them.

no wonder you think this, you clearly didn’t understand anything he wrote

It does work. See Peirce

t. midwit

I don't see a point in the theory of Forms, the noumenal/phenomenal distinction, the nature of causality, reality being fully material, idea, or a mixture of both, substances as monads, the Cartesian cogito, whether existence precedes essence or the other way around, or any other dumb concept that doesn't really impact my life, but is easy to understand enough to make myself appear smart.

This but the low IQs will not like it because it forces them to face sad realities about their own lives

Guarantee my iq is a full 35 points higher than you

Did these thoughts come from you seeing this quote somewhere? Be honest

Attached: there-is-no-try-only-do-or-do-not.jpg (460x335, 25K)

yes.

the einstein quote is honestly so cancerous and there is high chance that he never said that given the abstractness of his own ideas. fuck, here is a philosophical essay that einstein wrote lmao:

relativitybook.com/resources/Einstein_geometry.html

not only that but i doubt einstein would ever agree with you on the notion that philosophers are simply expressing things esoterically for the sake of it.
>at 13 he decided that Kant was his favorite author after reading the “Critique of Pure Reason.” He was clearly brilliant to anybody paying attention.
face it, you are just a coping idiot

Why do people always spout such a retarded take
"Dude you obviously don't know what you're talking about when it comes to [extremely complex subject with extensive framework], you can't even sum it up in a few pages"

omg owned!! xD

>intellectuals should conform to my brainletness

Ironic examples of the hypocrite that forces himself to read difficult stuff to feel smarter.
