I jerked off so much to this book. The part where he describes what he wants to do to Julia is so fucking hot, the torture scenes are too.
If 1984 is the most depressing book you've read I can tell you haven't read many books.
It's only more depressing today because of how real it's becoming.
1984 had a happy ending though. Winston finally realized to appreciate life the way it is.
Winston fucking died dude

This. The moral of the ending is basically to accept that Ignorance Is Bliss. It's no surprise that whilst George was writing it he was dying. However all these fags just assumes its "Yasss bash the fash yasss!!!".

Most of you would probably dismiss it though cos its about an evil right winger
Stand on Zanzibar has a very blackpilled ending
Reminder that big brother did literally nothing wrong and that almost certainly every person who lives under the regime has a more fulfilling and happy life then he would have now.
In what sense? What country on this diverse earth? You are just looking for overlap.
I love this book
I legit cried reading this
its pretty painful to read
that part when he found out he had contracted some disease from the horrendous conditions in his cell was very saddening
but even worse is the naive optimism he has at the end, not knowing that the state was about to kill him
>diverse earth
I wonder who made this post
the Claus and Lucas trilogy by Agota Kristof
Did anyone else come to the conclusion that Brave New World was completely self defeating? It set up this “twisted” world where people are slaves to the state and their base instincts and all modern sense of decency is eroded. Yet, the main character and his friend aren’t punished for their dissent, they’re simply sent to an island of their choice to live out their days with similarly minded people??? What’s so bad about the world if the people too dumb to recognize or retaliate participate in the system while those who do are simply rewarded, seems like a utopia to me
Well, if I recall correctly when the savage, Bernard and Helmholtz (that was his name?) are actually sent to talk to the head of state or a title along those lines one can conclude that the state is not at all in favor of murdering citizens. Quite the contrary, they believe everyone has a job and a duty to fulfill in their collectivist is society. Even if you dissent and have trouble with the very pillars of society one still is not free of responsibility to do ones contribution. Despite their concept of life (mass-cloning) and death (everyday natural and welcomed occurrence) life is quite sacred there. And I don’t believe being sent to an isolated island is a reward for the common citizen. In the society’s eyes, that’s worse than death, and to the rebels that get sent there, it’s bliss, it’s a win-win situation.
The Painted Bird by Jerzy Kosiński
man that book was too much
Nah, that's Brave New World.
1984 must be instruction, not a warning.

Long live the oppressive regime

Maybe i ate something bad that day, but i remember getting nausea during the part in America, in any case it contributed to make one of my most memorable read.
