i literally don't understand the difference between fascism and communism. is it because fascism focuses on the nation while communism focuses on the international?
i'm sure they have economical differences too but they both seem pretty anti-capitalist to me. i'm from an eastern bloc country and hearing stuff from the way the country worked from people from the previous generation, if you remove the commie aesthetics and the lipservice to communism, i'm fairly sure you could make a good case for it being a fascist society too.

One focuses on the 'people' and one focuses on the Nation. The first is at a ground level, and although we are talking about a Nation, and thereby hierarchy is presupposed and necessary, Communism does not exalt authority, not even of the individual over himself. They suppose that the theoreticians and dialecticians are accessing some spirit of the people which is latent and warped (by capitalism ofc) and must be restored by these people (new ruling class) to the people. All this seems quite ironic, and it is.

coming to the similarity of authoritarianism in both types of system, we have the above paradox informing the organisation of the state as being incredibly centralised because of a line of reasoning in the following vein:

'only a few have a pure (very orthodox!) view of the will of the Proletariat, so us few must *restore by any means necessary* the 'basic' state of the people.' The presupposition is that there is an 'original' state of the people, which is derived from Rousseau's Noble Savage, this is one of the two main idealistic points of the core Communist strain...

National Socialists, and other right wing loosely speaking aristocratic conceptions accept hierarchy, and praise hierarchy. They also think that the plebeians are corrupt and debased, but are also *lacking* influence.

So the authoritarianism's justification for both regimes is essentially for the same purpose of changing the society, but in opposite directions; right wing believe that hierarchy imbues and exalts, left wing believes that it corrupts and is something to be transcended, not transcendence in its self. The right construct systems and symbols, believing in their power to better men's minds. The Left only create systems which deconstruct all other systems, leaving the only process intact, destruction, as their faith. Things are inherently good, so all we need to do is strip everything down to the bare-bones individual. Until then, we'll have a massive behemoth of subversive systems in place, to self-destruct. Sadly, many like power, and those who are genuinely faithful in the constructive power of hard-left systems are the ones who are both extremely gullible and lacking in the ruthlessness to enact their theories; dictators who have no principles and values other than the bestial will to power vastly outweigh the respectable and teneted types by the selection mechanisms of revolution and hierarchies.
